Chat Restriction - Awful system

In my opinion, this chat restriction is one of the worst thing in this game, I been loyal to this game for about 5 years but thinking about quitting just based on my account chat restrictions & honour resets that happened during the last 6 months,

  1. Most people have different personalities,
  2. The chat restriction seems to be fully automated without supervision of an actual person
  3. Chat restrictions/Honour resets should not be affected by this
  4. Support System -
  5. Chat Restriction affects in-game communication
  6. Stress, different moods & other causes
  7. Maybe Consider changing chat restrictions into game suspensions to get more effect out of the system, perhaps this would be more effective.

1,2) Explained In my own words, I am by any means not a person who's toxic but I do use dirty words, but I don't think it makes me a bad person, on top of it I rarely initiate flaming or insulting another player however if the player insults/flames me first I wont sit quiet I will throw the words back so they could swallow it. However it appears that the system applies me the restriction in the end regardless and no instant feedback report on the players who initiate the flaming, which I think is a little odd as they're the ones who trigger this in the first place. This causes stress and I think everyone who is being flamed/insulted should not be quiet, however once again everyone might have different opinions but it does seem like the people who initiate insulting are getting away as well.

  1. Explained - You are able to get honour reseted for saying very minor/words-insults with a chat restriction on top of it which i dont think its fair, I am currently at 25 games chat restriction & honour block once again ( got out of my last one a month ago,- I took a small break due to the chat restrictions I thought I might got tired from this game but now I noticed that in another Moba I act differently due to the different community.

  2. Explained Support system is not being helpful regarding any restrictions on the account, they just copy & paste a pre-written message of regardless what you write, I got twice the same response so I gave up on it.

  3. Explained Without being able to chat, especially if you're a person who loves to chat with your team you're not able to perform as great due to lack of communication in the game, this puts more pressure on you and it is a little awkward saying to your team that you're chat restricted.

  4. Explained Many people have different mood factors which might cause them to throw negativity towards other players such as stress, certain conditions & diseases or people who are just trolling, and I do think that this should be considered prior to chat restriction, maybe before enabling chat restriction people should get notified and asked for a response on the controversial messages.

  5. Explained Chat restriction does not seem to have any positive outcome after it wears off, wouldn't it be easier to suspend a player for 2-24 hours this would at least make the players reconsider before trashing other people.

In the end I put much effort into this game and I consider myself as a friendly human being who stands up for himself, if someone throws shade/trash talks no one is supposed to ignore it as the summoners should always reflect the game on themselves first, which is very dissapointing. In the last 6 months I had quite a few chat restrictions, honour level resets regardless some of the messages that were attached to the 'Marked' msg, this is my way of communicating and I dont think that a game should try to change the way I am talking/communicating....

Yeah, quit. Some people actually think Riot is so strict because it helps generate profit. If more people just quit the game because of their policies on toxicity and banning, it would show them that they're losing revenue because of it, and maybe they would tone it down on the zero tolerance. I doubt it, but maybe. It would also show those people who think they ban people because they're greedy, that that just doesn't make sense. I've always thought banning accounts would lose players, and therefore Riot would lose more in the end, than they gain.

Couldn't agree more. I just got chat restricted because apparently I was being "rude" or "toxic" as the censor babies like to say to someone on my team who picked GP and Darius bot lane.

Apparently saying "yeah a premade versus a pub with gp and darius bot lane and your bming gg" and other such things is worthy of a chat restriction.

It honestly feels disgusting after spending so much on this game, time and money, and having this stupid garbage happen. I don't know of or play any other game with this big of a whiny censorship complex. I always feel like I have to hold my tongue like I'm in some kind of 1984 dystopia everytime I play even if it's using game chat to friends because I'll get struck down for daring to use wrongspeak.

Prepare yourself for a flurry of downposts from the new crowd of internet browsers like redditors and tumblrites who are absolutely perfect angels all the time and balk at the slightest amount of imagined or otherwise textual slights. They are all oh so perfect and no one could possibly ever find anything they say wrong or offensive.

EDIT: And for anyone like the other poster who tries to justify this sort of rule BS and say it's because someone consistently gets punishment or consistently restricted, that has no objective bearing in the rules and nor should it. In my case I was getting my honor level back and I conducted myself similarly in the games preceding this one as I did in the game where I got chat restricted. I frequently get honors from teammates and was getting my level back up. It has nothing to do with that.

Completely disagree with op there personally I** think they should take the entire chat system out . **

This is just a video game and even in ranked there is absolutely no justification for the type of speech I see in almost every game.

Even if there is someone LEGITIMATELY there is no reason to flame or engage them just ignore them and quietly report them at the end of the match.

Unfortunately especially in ranked there are some that insist on throwing temper tantrums because they are getting stressed out over the state of a video game and don't know how to control their emotions.

Some times you win some times you lose rank goes up and down . Just have fun doing the game worry about what your doing and you will end up to a rank = to your skill level.

Not moving up well you have probably hit your "skill level" cap and need to improve.

player however if the player insults/flames me first I wont sit quiet I will throw the words back so they could swallow it.

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. I'm not a fan of getting flamed at, but this eyedea (heh) just causes the whole game to become toxic, with everyone either throwing insults or stfu's around. How does that help (5)?

(3) Good behavior positively affects Honor. Why shouldn't negative behavior adversely affect it?

(5) Pings? You can communicate so much and so quickly with these. It makes a huge difference when you use these vs when you don't. But for sure, text communication is super important in the game too. I can't attest to chat restrictions though, as I've never had them. You're chat is restricted, not completely inhibited, so you need to limit your chat to the utmost important topics. Like where the hell is that Teemo...

  1. A majority of players are not punished again after receiving their first punishment, and that is true of every punishment.

Yeah, don't do this. It's against the rules.

You know why? Because everyone has an excuse for acting like a jerk. No one is ever the person that starts it.

However it appears that the system applies me the restriction in the end regardless and no instant feedback report on the players who initiate the flaming

This is probably because they aren't constantly fighting with their teammates. I'm going to guess part of the problem is, you do on a regular basis, considering this isn't your first chat restriction.

So is the problem really the guy that has a single bad game and acts out one time, or is it the guy that thinks he's completely justified in his behavior, is constantly adding to the negative atmosphere surrounding the game, has been punished multiple times, and refuses to listen to the rules that have been explained to him?
