Accomodating Toxic Players

League is a toxic game.

At least in my experience, every two games, at least one person is toxic on my side or theirs, either having tirades of cussing, going afk, or any number of fucked up things.

And you know what? I'm used to that. As sad as it is, I'm used to that in my ranked experience, and I just take it as it comes. Every twenty reports or so, one might even come up as successful, and I take some pleasure in that, but it's this sad stockholm syndrome that it's become normalized to see this behavior in my games.

But today, I met something that made me angry. Apoplectically angry. As usual, someone was being toxic. We had traded top turret for bot turret (each side took two kills; our bot, their top/jung) and the support starting calling me a fucking retard and saying he'll go afk because I didn't TP bot lane at 25% health in full view of them to dissuade bot's push while I was in the middle of a fight to take top tower.

But that's not what tilted me, oh no. Because there is something much, much rarer than mere toxic players. It's when perfectly fine players have to fucking bend over backwards to accommodate these fucking childish pieces of shit.

After it became clear that our support wasn't going to do anything, our midlaner switched tactics. He started insulting me, criticizing my play, even though we both knew that I was playing perfectly fucking fine, and eventually he said something along the lines of "he's a fucking idiot, he doesn't know what he's talking about, I'll honor you if we win this game." (Not an exact quote.)

This tilted me so fucking hard. I literally had to use my emergency key - the one that deactivates my enter key - so I wouldn't explode into a fucking angry tirade at him. And the worst part is, I understand our midlaner's thought process. Fuck, I've used similar ones before, though not as drastic - appealing to the toxic player, telling him it'll be okay, he's fine.

It's fucked up. Now that I think about it outside of my competitive haze to win, the mere idea makes me unbelievably fucking angry, enough to waste ten minutes writing up a shitty pointless post on the internet. I was doing this. I was sucking up to these wastes of humanity. Why the fuck should regular players who are perfectly fine have to accommodate toxic players, to coddle them so that they don't ruin our games? How fucked up is that shit? Putting up with their shit is one thing, but fucking REWARDING them for being fucking pieces of shit on the internet? I can deal with toxic players that go unpunished despite their reports. I can't fucking deal with having to kiss their fucking shoes just so they would fucking play the game and not ruin it for everyone else!

Jesus fucking christ, I'm going to get wasted now.

Problem: You get tilted.summoner 3

Solution: Focus summoner 13, keep everything Zen (or is that keep everything Shen ?) - and simply don't tilt.

Method: Ignore, Mute, Report, Move On. And be as silent as Sona. Saying anything to toxic players is like Trump poking Kim Jong-un - it just makes things worse.

Result: Feel better summoner 7. And no more tilt.

Life's too short to get frustrated over league. Most humans will deal with imbecility and frustration in their daily life from all these sources: bosses, co-workers, spouses, relatives, children, clergy, work, school, etc. You can mute toxic players. It's harder to mute a toxic boss or an angry spouse.

I suggest you play Ivern. He's like an SSRI or an anti-anxiety drug for summoners.

It is what it is. The internet is just a place being overran by little kids with anger issues and it has become one LAME place.

I straight up imagined some fat neckbeard typing this up. He screams into his monitor slapping his greasy cheeto stained fingers across his keyboard in a fit of rage. The neckbeard begins sweating profusely as his face turns a tomato shade of red, and zits begin to spurt sickly yellow ooze down his face before realization strikes him. "No", he whispers to the dark musky room as he repeatedly strikes the backspace key. This monstrous man child swiftly unbinds his enter key lest the rage of a thousand lost ranked games causes him to say something he may come to regret. After all.. his League of Legends account is all he truly has in this world.

And this is the non thought of reality of league. It actually benefits the toxic players more than the non toxic players. That's how sad it is.

You don't. You ignore them (mute), handle them in an appropriate manner (report), and not let it get to you (move on).

This deserves more upvotes, it's all too true. Thank you for writing it out. I truly hope Riot can step up the reports analysis.

one thing you have to learn is you can TP but you dont have to keep doing it. remember you can cancel it at the last second. thats what we call TP PRESSURE. you have to learn this to be a effective top laner.

just permaban this guy Riot and u got rid of 1 toxic trash here evidence all his f*** words......[zombie-brand-clap]

Pandemic Punch12/27/2017, 4:04:28 PM1 votes

Sucks even worse when you respond with one insult and stop. Then they continue insulting you with the same language over and over. You get banned for one insult and they don't get banned for many of the same insults. Even worse when you have no history of toxicity on a 6 year old account.

Time to retire this stupid system because it is not working on any side of the spectrum.

The problem is, you only have to expect these things to happen, and you always have the choice to leave, but you shouldn't be pushed out because of some toxic players. The only solution i can think of is improving the punishment for toxic behaviour.[sg-janna]

If it helps, I just lost a game as adc with a Kata ''support'' who left bot lane for top, jg was afk and I had 0 help the entire game. On top of that, she threatened to report me for my build (which has most votes on Mobafire) while telling everyone how she was sleepy and had to go to bed so we had to surrender (not that I did not vote ''yes'' - it was the sane thing to do. But of course, there was the occasonal 1 douchebag voting ''no'').

There is nothing you can do about it but report and keep telling yourself that Riot gives a ****.

I sympathize with you and hope you have better experiences in the future. :( Amumu

I usually have a blast with toxic people and laugh my ass off. Like when I was Ryze and the enemy team had a Warwick Ezreal Janna Kayn and the former three called Ryze an Easy champion when I called out their champs being easy when they said easy after fights. I was cackling like the super villain. However there are times when it is too much I agree.
