So... question for everyone here about trolls.

Just had a match where our mid Vel'koz decided to throw the game. HARD. He got mad at our Rengar for "kill stealing" a kill from him by, you know... helping him... and after that he did all he could to throw the game.

Here's the thing. He didn't run it down or anything. He just lurked in jungle and stole camps from Rengar and afked far from the enemy team, stealing jungle monsters, so his KDA wasn't terrible and his CS wasn't terrible. He however, still managed to throw the game by, well... forcing it into a 4v5. But he intentionally did it in a way the ban bot won't detect. If anything it'll notice the entire team yelling at him for most of the game because he was, well... screwing us all.

So what's the recourse for things like this? Does the immature bully win? He legit laughed about it in post game chat, admitted he did it all to throw and then acted smug about how he "owned us"... So I assume this technique just works? He certainly seemed confident that he'd never be punished for it. Is that really the case? Can I get any attention on this in any way? A simple report seems like it won't do much, since the bot will just see his half-decent KDA and CS and that his team was all arguing and conclude it was just another game that went poorly and descended into arguing, not one that was deliberately thrown away by a VERY immature, self-centered person.

What can be done about this kind of crap? Or does the troll just get to screw over everyone and get away with it?

Edit: A happy end to the tale. After a single Riot ticket was sent I got a response from a live person who said they'd look into and lo and behold the next time I log in "A player was punished because of your report". I hope it was a ban. I guess the dumb jerk wasn't as untouchable as he thought he was.

Report it and put into the comments the time stamp of when he did things and what he did.

It will eventually make it's way into manual review and he'll get banned for it.

"smart" trolls are the hardest to automatically punish because algorithm struggle analyzing this grey area. Its not 0/20/0 indeed. Not to mention, Riot must avoid false positive from players having a bad game, truly discovering the game and walking all around the map, trying something weird.

Even in the recent post, "trolling" is not mentioned: https://na.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/news/dev/dev-ranked-and-matchmaking-in-2020/

That being said, the general best way to eradicate trolls is to not acknowledge their disruptive behavior at all. Trolls CRAVE for attention, dont give them any, you increase the chances that they quit or resume playing normally. Keep playing normally 4v5. "Do not feed the troll" is a proverb as old as I can remember being online. Dont feed them with attention and they ll starve. The more you tell a troll to stop trolling the more he ll continue. He owned you only because other players complained = fed his craving.

The truth is... "trolling" does not exist. The Rengar was "toxic" and Vel'Koz decided to try a "different strategy". Oh... and you were probably toxic as well. And that is why you come here. Because YOU lost the game. Because you couldn't carry.

Not being good enough = toxic.

Did I forget to mention that you are also a Silver hardstuck?

NOW RELAX: I'm only saying what the "wise members of the Boards" say.

TL:DR : The Vel'Koz is an innocent individual who was unfortunately forced to play with a toxic team. I hope Vel'Koz is fine...

That's evidence which is logged. Pre/post-game chats are valid things to report. People originally thought they were free to say and admit to anything they wanted in post-game chats just because they didn't show up on reform cards. Rioters have stated explicitly that that was a false belief.
