The 4v1 Surrender. Why being the minority sucks sometimes and questions for RIOT & the Community.

I am sure there are a couple of people who have experienced this but I wanted to see if this happens to other people in the community. There have been times where I have been on a team and we surrender pre-preemptively where they may have been a chance we could win.

As a product of the pre-season changes there are obvious signs of a snowball effect in which the other team clearly has the advantage or teammates are toxic towards each other, and even just plain poor gameplay and teamwork amongst teammates.

My questions to riot and other players is how exactly do you determine when it is time to surrender, and do you think there are clear signs of when you should or should not give up on a match? Is there a grey area? If there is a grey area, how would you describe it?

Do not get me wrong, I am not complaining about the capability to hold a surrender vote, but to take a closer look at the reason why people choose to surrender and how that decision comes to fruition. If anyone at Riot does any kind of research on why player's agree to surrender that would be cool to see. After seeing the post about dealing with anger I figured this would be an interesting follow up.

Thanks all!

Think people downvoted because they think you're a whiner but they're wrong. I agree with this post. There's been lots of times when my team has surrendered winable games in ranked queues and it's so irritating when you know that you can still win.

Some nights I'm just not in a mood to take too much bullshit, which includes but is not limited to getting repeatedly killed by Assassins. Sometimes I just want to quit the meaningless video game and move on with my life to something that isn't actively pissing me off, but I'm held hostage by Riot's commitment to banning people who quit, and I've put too much real money into my account to risk losing it.

Dependant on the team for me.

I personally will keep fighting if I know they're getting cocky or they're making mistakes, but if a team isn't willing to capitalize, or they aren't willing to do anything but sit there and argue, then I know it's a GG.

wtf is with the downvotes? This isn't about qqing or quitting, its just a question asking why people choose to surrender.

For me i'm only willing to FF if the game is completely out of my hands and theres nothing I can do to make it better. I'll give an example that I know I will get slack for but here's my reason anyway.

I was 20-4 as Lucian( I had 300 to put in perspective) in a game. I had a 90cs Ahri who was 2-7 would not stop feeding(literally ulting into their team), and a Garen who refuses to go Tank and also 2-10. A support that wouldnt peel for me and a Jg that kept trying to dive their team. Fight after fight I give my team helpful advice, I say it nicely. Garen goes "no" jungler ignores it, Ahri ignores it, Leona doesnt do it. Yet fight after fight we're barely coming away with a win because i'm getting quadra kills and using all my summs. When I don't have my summs, we're losing ACE right away (because they just flash on me literally all 5 flash on me).

The game has no longer become fun for me and is more stressful than it is enjoyable. At this point I do not care about LP, they aren't taking ANY advice, NOBODY wants to actually play as a team and win, they all want me to carry them. Yes I FF, it's not worth it. I'm trying my ass off working hard to win. The rest are just enjoying the game. Fine enjoy the game, but I don't want to be there. So yes I will spam that FF button unless they actually want to win.

Sometimes, it's not about whether or not you could win, it's about whether you want to continue to struggle and make the effort to keep fighting. At some points, you're just worn out, or the snowball has rolled too big that team morale is down and everyone wants to start fresh, or leave and go cool off.

Surrender to me is a means of starting fresh, or escaping the prison we're locked into the second the loading screen pops up.
