Banned for a joke taken out of context.

I was recently banned for telling someone to 'kys' even though this isn't, according to the code of conduct against the rules, and I was joking it was a clearly a joke. One Rioter said 'kys' falls under hate speech when by definition hate speech is talk that attacks an individual or a specific group based on a protected attribute such as the target’s sexual orientation, gender, religion, disability, color, or country of origin. It doesn't fall under harassment by definition because I wasn't being aggressive or trying to intimidate anyone. The enemy cho gath said at the beginning of the game "You wouldn't hurt a little cho gath would you?" And I responded with "kys".Even though NOWHERE IN THE CODE OF CONDUCT does it say i'm not allowed to say this even jokingly I have my honor reset and a 14 day suspension and the next time something like this happens I could be banned. When I spoke with a Rioter(Hana) in a live chat she implied that Riot can remove anyone they please if they feel like they are harming others.I'm pretty sure that Cho gath forgot I even exist after that game while i'm here suspended with my honor reset on the verge of losing all my money,2 years of playtime, and progress playing that game because of a joke I made.I know people may not find saying 'kys' funny but this is my sense of humor and a lot of people tend to share the same dumb sense of humor as I do,I mean memes are proof of this.My intention wasn't to hurt the Cho's feelings or be toxic in general. My understanding of toxicity is unclear since I see people like Qtpie and IWD flame their teammates all the time and never get banned.I have ADHD so i'm pretty impulsive which is dangerous with my sense of humor, since if I think it i'll immediately type it without thinking about the outcome,i'm honestly afraid that i'm going to do this again and get perma banned,Riot isn't listening to me and I don't know who else to turn to.I tried not typing,I got banned for the same exact reason in August and stopped using chat but I forgot why I stopped using it and used it again for better communication and surprise! Banned again.I just want to know what the community thinks about this since Riot Hana told me to come post it on the boards after closing my chat after I rebutted her claim that I was using hate speech with facts.

There's a space after the period in English. Perhaps it's not your first language, but hey, you're on NA.

"kys" isn't hate speech, but as it's a call for somebody to kill themselves, it receives the same treatment as hate speech: zero tolerance. I'm not going to get into a pedantic discussion with you over what you interpret the code of conduct to say. You told somebody to kill themselves. Over a video game. That's fucked up, and if you were trying to "make a joke", you need to seriously re-evaluate your sense of humor.

Riot isn't listening to me...

Riot is listening to you -- they're simply under no obligation to agree. A private company is allowed to set rules for behavior on their property (real or virtual), and Riot has decided that telling another player to end their own life is not acceptable behavior for a video game.

I would agree that it isn't hate speech, but I would say that it falls into the same unacceptable category as that. While comedians use that language, many also use terms we consider hate speech. The important catch there is that their comedy is an entirely opt-in experience: you know what to expect when you go to see comedians who make that language part of their act.

That isn't the case in League. No one signed up to go into a game only to be told to kill themselves. THAT is what makes it unacceptable. If you want to use that language among people you know are 100% okay with it, do it with my blessings. Don't, however, force people to experience that sort of "joke" without knowing it's okay with your audience.

"kys" falls under Zero-Tolerance. End of story.

No matter what context, circumstance, or otherwise.

You know, I didn't think a code of conduct would have to explicitly prohibit encouraging someone to literally end their entire life, completely, for good, over a video game.

Yeah you don't tell people that as a general rule of being a good person.
