I got banned for games that I did not play

(RESOLVED ESOLVEDR SOLVEDRE OLVEDRES LVEDRESO VEDRESOL EDRESOLV DRESOLVE) I had just hit plat, and I was feeling very happy. This was my ranked goal for the season so I was pretty done unless it was a custom with my friends. I got of League to go play Divinity. Some hours later I was still playing divinity when one of my friends joined my discord call to ask me why I was playing Yasuo, in ranked after I had said I was done with ranked. I was confused and live-streamed my Divinity game. He told me to check my profile, and when I did I saw that I was indeed playing ranked. It was ranked flex but it was still a little jarring knowing that the person was not me. I tried to log into my account during the game and I could not. I checked my match history and there was already a game there (not my game). It was a riven game in flex, and he played perfectly. I don't play riven, and my riven is much less than perfect the few times I have tried to play the champ. I was freaking out. It would not let me into my account, and every time I would log in I got an error. He finished his Yasuo game, with a remarkably high score. I was worried but I had just changed my password so I thought everything would be alright and I would never see from it again. I wake up today to try to log in and it said I had been permabanned for the use of third party applications. Watching any of my soloq vods will show that I don't use third-party apps. I will try to do as much as I can to prove my innocence. For reference, I live in, with a brother who used to live with me, but no longer does. It is very possible that he has my account, but when the even occurred I checked with him immediately, and he was playing league on his account (he is also a member of the discord in the picture below). below is a discord link of me expressing surprise in chat, keep in mind I was in a call at the time, at some point when one of my friends gets home I can offer voice call logs (plays.tv) of what I was saying at the time. below are the 2 games that were not me, and I believe are the cause of the ban. If they didn't use 3rd party apps they would have just been boosting you without you knowing lmao, but real life they stole my man's from the custom game we were gonna play because someone queued up on his account. I also msg'd the account while Ninjaultimo was in the discord chat, but the account didn't respond and Ninja didn't get it appearently. I probably have some evidence in discord or in game, and plenty of witness accounts, but who would even lie about that? For one, why would you get to play just fine then go get a third party app to compensate for something? Two, this is the same man that flamed me for saying Facecheck looked cool. Also, why would someone hack someone else's account just to duo in flex and not troll? Ninja doesn't even play flex (check match history for him and all of his frequent friends), so it's highly unlikely to be him, but that means whoever at the IP who did it, if the IP registered as different dispite Ninja trying to force himself into the account while the other person was playing, was doing that for a reason and likely will do it to other accounts, so do check into that.

Riots handling of account security is beyind ridiculous and unacceptable. Almost every company is using 2step authentication but riot still hasn't implemented it, they said they will but its still not here even if the new client has already arrived. Riot need to put things in priority is security should be the most important one. Fix the client, secure our accounts then waste your resources in stupid skins and other games ure making.

I hope u get your account back as long as u haven't messed with any of those sketchy websites then riot should give u a reward as a compensation because it's their fault.

it was some steam mods. I have a lot of Divinity Original Sin 2 mods. Although there have been other reports of this having happened, and I rioter confirmed there was an account breach, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Its because riots backend is a decade old. Its easier to implement from the ground up than to retroactively rework everything to use it. They had to do a lot of work to get it to this point, and because they were also makIng a single client for all their just announced games, it had to wait anyway to not do three times the work.

2FA wasnt really a major thing until recently. 4 years ago it was still primarily done through tokens you had to pay to get and mailed to you. Apps for it are only fairly recent.

And again, theyre setting everything up to be done once to get everything out and updated all at once. Its not a simple nor easy task. The backends for these are generally fairly sensitive, and arent conducive to easily transitioning to a newer and updated system while ensuring nothing gets lost. Riots backend was made by part time modders for fun, not a major company expecting the game to last 10+ years into the future and to be updated biweekly.

Ah the 'its so easy they're just lazy' excuse. Please, my friend, go design your own advanced client to handle matchmaking using an old, dated codebase that has to handle tens of millions of players and add 2fa to it seemlessly. Let me know how long it takes you. ;)

Sorry but I am not a developer working in a million dollar company. Riot obviously has other priorities over fixing their game. Making skins and esports is more important to them than providing basic security smooth gameplay and a balanced game

Also not to mention 4 days ago there is a riven match in flex that shows a similar play style.

It is end of season so if you perhaps got a little boosting i would understand but there are ramifications to every action.

I did not get boosting and why would I get boosting in flex. If I have shown the ability to get plat in solo q why would I start getting boosted in flex? I wouldn't need to I would just be able to play the way I normally do with a couple of friends. Although now looking into it you are correct. There is a 14-1 riven game that I did not see before. In my ticket, I said expressly that I had noticed a setting change previously but dismissed it due to not noticing my solo q rank change. That said it believe it would seem unusual for a person who had played riven a few times in the past (and performed poorly most of those games) to just pick the champ up and pop off.

In order for someone to be on your account they require your login credentials.

Either through boosting.

Nobody would go to the trouble of compromising an account to play ranked flex and get you banned. Of course unless you have drama.

I don't know what a reform card is. This is what I saw when I logged in. I said it down below, but one of my friends mentioned that a similar thing happened to him when he had divinity open, and he said it was the product of mods he had open at the time. About the person using my account, I assure you that I did not hire a booster, nor would I want one. If I were to have hired a booster it would have been for ranked solo/duo. You can see on my account that the champs are inconsistent with champs I play regularly, and I'm pretty sure neither champ has even been touched in my ranked games. Said party provides said services to the client.

To do this, they compromise another account with the proper ELO range, and duo with the account that requested the services.

This means the person whos account was compromised gets hit with any punishment while the duod account that is being boosted isnt hit with anything.

Which is silly. I feel like some form of punishment should be handed to the player that was queued with the compromised account, or at least should get investigated.

If they are consistently queuing ranked with random accounts that happen to be using scripts, it's time to swing the ban hammer in their direction too.

Focusing efforts to make sure the hammer falls on the buyers is often the best way to discourage the whole market.

They do unban situations like the OP has. And from what I can tell the chances of getting unbanned is pretty high if they're telling the truth.

It sucks for OP to sort things out with support but there are a lot of people that don't realize their account was stolen until they get banned. OP was fortunate enough to have friends that notified them, but not everyone is. Leaving scripters to freely cheat is not an option.

Bans are not always about punishing the player. They're about getting the account out of the community.

I understand and agree with this. It does suck to deal with but I feel as though it was necessary. If only there was an easier way to communicate with riot.

Bans are not always about punishing the player. They're about getting the account out of the community.

You can handle situations like these without issuing a full ban on an account. Ontop of that, script things are banned in waves, not dealt with asap, so its not even a matter of getting the account out of games asap.

I dont see the confusion. Just because they play ranked doesnt mean their account hasnt been compromised.

I thought it was 4 days ago. please post a screenshot. I see an unidentified riven game from 4 days ago, in which I believe match history was down during this period.

My account shows 1 match with this trend. Every other Yasuo game has been in a custom(and I got clapped), and I don't think I've played riven this season. If you would read the ticket it states that days prior I had noticed settings changes, but dismissed them due to my solo q rank staying the same. ! previous game is hardly grounds for the establishment of a pattern, especially when match history was down all weekend, thus I had no means to check such a thing.

The question remains why should anyone believe that you played the matches to get you to plat?

A booster could have gotten you to plat then went and played some flex now you use those as an excuse.

Ultimately it is not up to us to decide these things, within reason riot can observe the source IPs of your matches so it is up to them to decide if you are legitimate. As long as it can be proven that it is only the flex matches in questions where played by someone compromisng your account and your account shows no other peculiarities then riot should give it a pass .

Of course this will require a manual review that a BOT could not resolve so you will have to wait your line in that que.

Well, you shouldn't necessarily, but lets hypothesize. Say he was boosting me, which of my champs would he use. My best champ is khazix, so let us say its khazix. This booster took 143 games with a 59% wr to get me to plat 4, and he has been boosting me for a while. If I were hiring a booster I would have long replaced this person due to underperforming. what they did doesnt make a lot of sense but it would make even less sense if I was lying. I would have been wasting so much money. Not only this but I failed a lot of promos to get there, and khazix happens to be my highest mastery champ.

From what I have heard from this board a booster it paid on a per match basis so with that in mind you would use him in the promos to secure it after you struggled with end of season looming it felt a safe bet to secure p4.

Just an observation of someone who does not trust most people.

So then after he secured me, he would then go on to play extra games on flex? and why would he keep my duo q. Also, why would a booster need scripts? I'm sure that if I were going to hire a booster they would have to be very high elo, and they wouldn't be high elo if they were scripting seeing as it only took me 2 games to get shut down. If I were getting boosted before and the perp was using scripts I would have been caught long ago, and if it was only promos, why was he playing my best champion? I understand playing devil's advocate but there isn't much logical ground to stand on in terms of explaining what happened, how it happened, and why it happened.

Using the powers of op.gg, I was able to determine the boosted player had to have been the one played both games with the compromised account(op.gg also says that they actually queued up with said account), this was the only time that this player has ever played with them. (I cannot say names cuz it's against tos) but its easy to find and it's more than likely. (they were also mentioned in the op post so I wanted to confirm). But I do hope riot looks into this issue and confronts/contacts the other player.

This is not the place to try to get your ban removed. Send in a ticket to Riot (Do not bump your ticket by sending several) and hope they are kind enough to remove the ban. They might not be tho, ToA says your responssible for all action on your acc. But hey, its worth a shot

Oh. Well, that sucks. It was on recommendation from one of my friends. a couple of years ago he posted like 4444 pictures of Jhin, and a rioter commented personally. So I figured if I gained enough traction someone would notice.

It was brought to my attention that when I tried to log on to my account when there was someone else playing on it, I had divinity open. when I received the error message and could not log on, it could very well have been one of the many mods that I have from steam, to use divinity. I have downloaded lots of mods for Divinity Original Sin 2 and a few for CS:GO. With this in mind, it would be useful to know the type of third party application detected because it could very well be a harmless steam mod that was running. Seeing as I have already dealt with the breach in my account, this would clear up the third-party app problem, thus the permaban could be revoked (if thats a thing thats done).

Sometimes permabans are issued on accounts that Riot believes have been compromised in order for the owner to recover the account before large charges are made using saved payment methods. I have heard a report before that said ban can actually come up as Third Party Programs.

That said.

Riot believes that you are responsible for actions taken on the account. This means that if your account is compromised and another person uses banned third-party programs on said account they will ban the account and it will remain banned irregard of absolute proof that it was not you performing the action because it was performed on your account.

Finally, none of your steam mods will cause an issue. Some non-related programs, such as Cheat Engine, can cause issues if they are running when you launch the game (the game will fail to launch most of the time) but these are exclusively programs where the stated or primary use is for cheating in games.

Some of the mods drastically change the gameplay. I'm not sure if that will count as cheating but things like the combat and the talents are changed as a result of some of the mods that I was running. You seem to have more expertise here than I do so I will just take your word for it.
