why should i not be toxic when my team is toxic to me?

ive been a non toxic player pretty much since i started playing. i never flamed my team i never spam pinged missing for mistakes, i never called my team trash or intentionally fed or went afk. and what do i get? i get teammates who call me trash, report me for inting when im 4/7 and having a bad game, flaming me for not gankiing when we clearly cannot win a 2v2. im trying to find a reason to not be toxic, but the shit the community gives back to me is not compelling enough

I get where you're coming from. This community is trash sometimes, and you can get flamed for anything. You being toxic will make it worse and might get you a ban. Build some skin, laugh at their foolishness and report them after-game. There's no solution for this one, other than to report and move on.

Why should I not get a flamethrower when I find out my house is on fire, instead of running away and calling the fire department?

When you flame back, it's like fighting Brand with Brand. You're just gonna get more flame! Best to keep cool and hit back with a frozen tomb/glacial prison.... I mean the mute button. Actually, Soraka's equinox is most apt.

Seriously,

  1. you'll get more harassment/toxic chat
  2. it means your teammates now deal with one more toxic player
  3. if you ignore/mute, they just might stop being toxic and may play better.

I understand the frustration, muting is always a choice. It's hard for me to mute though because i'm stubborn and like to fight back lol. But even if they do report you, if you DO go 4/7 you're obviously not going to get punished, or shouldn't at least, who knows with the way riot works. But yeah I'd just mute or even turn chat off completely to avoid being tilted
