Instant Feedback Permaban - Is this really warranted?

I have been playing league of legends since before season 1. I have logged thousands of hours on this account over the past years. I was banned a few months ago for 2 weeks for chat restriction. I understand what I did was wrong and I truly reformed. I just now got out of a game and recieved a permanent suspension and the chat logs attached do not even show me negative!? In fact, most of the games I was just trying to get my teamates to continue to play the game and stop ffing. These are 3 games out of hundreds of games I have played since and I get banned because (much like my 2 week ban) duos just decide to report me together and due to my previous restriction I get banned for it. I am an avid fan of the game but the instant feedback system has major faults because my account was banned for illegitimate reasons. I understand the need for a system, but this just seems foolish to me. I have attached the chatlogs to show what was strong enough to hit me with a perma ban. I cannot believe I wasted so much time on this game just for trolls to be able to feed, tell me I suck when I'm just trying to play or even carry through their feeding, and then they report me at end game screen to result in my ban. For example, game one Jayce wasn't even on my team and that was not said in all chat.

I was toxic in the past I will admit, like some of the things I used to say were not okay. But now since I had a chat restriction previously, simply getting reported for trying to strategize with teamates gets me reported? Is this really permban worthy?

You showed lots of examples of extremely toxic comments, negative attitude and calling for group reports on other players. You ignored a 10 and 25 game restrictions(unless you skipped a tier with earlier ones depending on your choice of words) and a 14 day ban... So yes, there is a point where you were given many chances to change your in game behavior but chose not to.

Imagine yourself in a scenario where you are having a really bad game, and then your teammates start threatening to report you and are telling the enemy team to report you for things they don't even know you did or not. It feels really shitty to have to deal with that kind of abuse, and even in the cases where the person absolutely does deserve all the reports that come his way, putting that drama in chat can only serve to spread the negativity.

Reports simply flag their match for review; more reports can't flag it more and make the system check it any harder. For these reasons it is best to just report them silently.

I'm just not sure how when someone says "I'm done" and leaves the game for 5 minutes until it ends, and me asking for the other team to report them, how that is reason for me to get banned and not them?

You aren't being judged for their actions, and they aren't for yours. I understand perfectly well why you would want to get everyone to report them with you, but in the end it's negative behavior that should be discouraged and it doesn't help.

As I already said, you only need one report to flag their match for review. AFK detection is not dependent on reports anyway.

You asked for what lines were the toxic ones, they were pointed out to you. The point is that you do not stop doing this at all, you have multiple chances to learn your lessen and you simply refused. This is just 3 games, Im guessing if you got permabanned, you do this consistently and showed no chances of changing your behavior. Feel free to start over and try reforming.

Except I won't get banned for that and you know it. And yes, reformed until my account got permabanned for this garbage? You think this is worthy of a permaban youre joking. Play 1 game of league and 99% chance there are at least 3 people in your match being more toxic than me in any of these logs combined and they won't even get a report. The system is ridiculous. Keep justifying it though

For the record, provoking people into fighting on a forum as a 'gotchya' point is more akin to a form of entrapment, than evidence.

I don't come here often, have zero clue who anyone is, and am fairly novice when it comes to how the ban system works; but poking people with a stick when they post chat logs, passive-aggressing them until they fight back, and acting like you 'win' is hardly helpful.

Then again, this is just a forum for a game marketed at kids. So maybe this is standard procedure over here.

He was argumentative and showed no interest in having actual discussion. He was only seeking comfort and wanted people to coddle their opinion, which I dont provide. He asked for answers, and he got them. He clearly acts like this on a CONTINUOUS basis and thus earned his permaban and continued to try and do it in the comment section

Lol. I showed no interest in having actual discussion? Because I didn't agree with them? You make it sound like disagreeing with you and discussing are mutually exclusive. My only point was that in your comment you referred to my comments as "extremely toxic". Are you joking? Be 100% honest with yourself and you know for a fact that those comments alone are barely even close to report worthy, let alone PERMA BAN worthy. The system is ridiculous, and the fact that you are going to defend a system that AUTOMATICALLY permenantly bans players based off of reports for something as silly as what is shown here is also ridiculous. Do you feel that Riot has accomplished justice? Does this seem like the type of system that works? How can you have a system that AUTOMATICALLY institutes permabans and will never reinstate under any circumstance.

The system is ripe for abuse and I feel that I was screwed over by it simply because I wasn't abusing it like other players who actually are trolling in these games**** do. Maybe I should spam reports like they do while silently ruining the game. Like I said, I have several alt accounts so this by no means implies I wont be playing anymore. I've seen people using bots since season 4 and played with trolls that troll harder than you can imagine and they never get banned. Yet this is what you are focused on? Oh well, time to flame-bait and spam reports on my other account. I want Riot to make others feel as dirty as I do too.

This is the problem with only showing my chat. It was a joke! He even knew it.

Lol. That was 1:20 seconds into the game, I was late at start and minions were spawning as I ran to lane. Hecarim said "Lux you are late" And I said the afk line.

The IFS system doesn't know if you're joking or not, it can't read sarcasm, it just reads keywords.

Overall this chat is pretty tame compared to some others I've seen, but you are still very negative overall with your teammates and keep trying to direct people to do what you think is best -- and you may even be tactically correct -- but you are still violating the ToS by being confrontational and antagonizing your teammates.

I understand I shouldn't even reply, but how can ally communication not be taken into account. These games I was actually the one being harassed by a few salty feeding teamates unprovoked, and simply replied. But because they are trigger happy with the reports and I have previous chat restrictions , except postgame I brush it off; but those players continue to play the game harassing others while I being someone who actually is trying to win and encourage my team to win most times gets a permaban. I understand these games do not show me in the most positive light, but this is 3 out of thousands of games. I can't tell you how many times I am the one actually saying "stop flaming, play it out, we got this, etc.". How can this possibly be a justifiable permaban?

Riot holds each and every player responsible for their own words and actions; someone else being toxic/griefing/harassing you or others does not give you the right to do the same back to them; that only escalates the situation and bleeds out into everyone's game causing a more severe toxic environment. Riot does punish players that are continuously toxic as well, and the system only shows you the last 3 games; it takes many more games for a permaban to set in, unless someone is extremely toxic and/or using hate speech.

Remember: Being harassed doesn't validate you harassing them back.

All this ban has done is ACTUALLY create a troll. I have many accounts. And now knowing how I got banned and how those who did me wrong by actually trolling got away scott free, I will just do what they do and make the game as miserable as possible for my teamates but not do anything actually reportable. This system works wonders

No one said they "got away scott free", you're not entitled to know who gets punished and when they get punished after your report of them. The only time you get notified is if your report is the one that "breaks the camel's back" as the saying goes, for that particular game. Also people who are rarely toxic over the span of hundreds of games but have a game or two where they are toxic, usually are not punished -- unless it's severe toxicity or hate speech.

You're free to be a troll if you want to, but that just signifies your level of emotional maturity overall, if you feel the need to go down that path because you were punished for breaking the game's rules.

Just one more example of the flaw in keyword-based systems. It works for social sites if your aim is to be the mostest popularist guy on the internet. But it doesn't fare so well in legal systems. :P

This is not how the system works. It is not a keyword based system. It also isn't that black and white. It is a machine learning system that learns from the community what is acceptable and what is unacceptable. It doesn't just say, 'they said a word on a list, they get punished.'

The IFS uses machine learning. It does not simply look for the presence of words or phrases. It is able to evaluate your history and determined that you are someone who, despite multiple warnings, continues to ruin the games of others.

I already admitted that I was toxic in the past. But if I reform, and then I get new reports for stupid reasons, why should it take that into account if it was so long ago and current reports are silly.

Your punishment tiers will decay if you show enough improvement over enough games to prove you're being consistent and earnest about it. If you aren't consistent about it or don't play enough games to show it that won't happen (in other words, waiting won't make it go away). The system does not do double jeopardy and check games from prior to a previous punishment either though, if that's what you were saying.

I'm not getting a "ruined games" vibe, here. And Riot PR is notoriously misleading. Now I love machine learning as much as the next guy, but if it did what he said it did without relying on words and phrases, the system would ban people who are reported. It wouldn't then judge the merit of a report.

Not unless the merit of reports was volume of reports. Something which, they have said, it does not do. This system uses keywords and key-phrases. And you could probably cheat it by using abstract words. Not that I'd condone it.

BUT I DIGRESS: This doesn't seem bad. It'd take a pretty undeveloped sense of justice to look at those logs and think to oneself: "This guy needs to be permanently removed from the community."

He's being a jerk in the thread, though. Admittedly, you're being rather mean, too.

Could you maybe provide some quotes so I understand what exactly I've said that you think is confrontational? All I'm doing here is providing information on how the system works so that he might understand better why he received a permaban instead of a lesser punishment. Yes, I am being quite a jerk in the thread and I apologize. I am just extremely frustrated that anyone can even remotely look at these logs and say "this is worthy of a permaban". I have logged thousands of games on this account and own almost every champion and 7 rune pages all through IP.

No; your constant arguing with your teammates about what they are or are not doing "properly" (according to you), and asking for reports on others, is. You created/continued to escalate whatever problems were in the game by doing these things. People have bad games, it's not your place to harass them about it. Riot isn't saying not to get frustrated, not to get angry, but they are saying not to release that into the chat of the game, where it can and will affect others already on edge.

The rest is negligible. Seems dumb to be permabanned based on the list.

Unless Riot has you for talking back, or minor arguments. Or playing hindisght ("shouldn't've done that dragon!")

Also telling people to report Yi at the end of the game. I don't think they like people telling people to report people. But, again, seems negligible.

Thank you. I doubt Riot will restore my account, its just hilarious they will use IFS to place a permaban on someone when literally every game of chat logs I showed I can assure you there was at least 1 maybe 2 people on my team being unbelievably toxic whilst feeding. Sad really.

Don't get me wrong, there's sarcasm and slightly confrontational stuff in there. But I DO agree that - based on the chat you've shown - it seems odd to be flat out banned. Iunno how the system works in earnest, though - or how bad you acted before/outside those logs.

I played with this guy once and he spent the entire game trying to recruit me to join ISIS. I'll admit he made some good points but overall it was still an uncomfortable situation. Good to know he's been banned, I can only hope Riot continues to promote islamaphobia and the fight against terrortrolls.

Update: The trolling has begun on my alternate account. So far I have baited two people into flaming me and reported them to result in them getting banned. Will continue to keep you informed.
