Did Riot ever consider not to allow creating of second account??

Reason why is simple .The fact that there is possibility to create new account contributes toxicity in LoL .If things aren't going well on one account you can feed ,troll and flame because you have second,third...Just had game with dude who went 0 13 in 18 mins ,44 cs on ashe adc...But when I check his account it was like 29 wins 9 looses gold 1 smurf... What does this forum think about this subject? One more thing ,if you get permaban there is no reason to continue with this game...So if you get perma it is best for community and you to stop playing.

How would they enforce this while not punishing innocent players?

Hmmm. If only there was a method to be able to stop people from making extra accounts that actually worked... Oh, there isn't one.

They actually answered about how they feel about smurfs once in an Ask Riot. Problem is there is no real way to stop it.

There's no feasible way to do it that wouldn't harm the community.

Phone numbers? You can use online apps to obtain new ones and it would harm those without them (the game is 13 and up afterall)

Email Addresses? It already is linked to one but you can also create new ones

IP Addresses? It would harm college campuses and other areas where people share IPs (even households with multiple League players for example).

I can keep going on and on but trust me when I say everything you've brought has already both been considered by Riot but also brought up before by our community and in these forums.

To all the people saying there are no methods of enforcing this, there actually are some that could partially work. Requiring a new account to need a phone number attached to it would mean that making new accounts continuously would become more and more of a headache the more it happened.

And to the OP, Riot has stated that they've considered it, but were actually against it. Reasons why should be pretty obvious. They'd quickly loose a considerable amount of their player base, not to mention all the businesses involved in leveling new accounts to 30.

In japan banning a player from a game also meant banning their computer ID#/hardware so they can't play that game with that Account AND can't play that game on that computer anymore. Or so I have heard.

I don't think there's a simple solution to to make smurfing impossible. However, it's certainly possible to decrease the rate of smurfing. One example of how this could be done:

  1. As part of creating an account, require an upfront Fee of $40.
  2. Provide an option to waive the fee if a mobile number is provided. (It is possible to verify a mobile number as a mobile number, not VOIP, and in fact there are services which do so.)
  3. If the phone number waiver is not used, convert the $40 fee into RP at a higher rate available during account creation.

The phone option should cover the overwhelming majority of players, while the payment option is available to those who don't possess a phone number. Making smurfs is possible, but now comes at a cost.

Stupid idea, period.

Your idea is ridiculous and you clearly didn't think it through and take into account how the reform system/perma bans actually do affect behaviour positively.

To solve many toxicity issues, league needs to not be an unbalanced, frustrating mess to play.

because at the end of the day its a game, the chances you get a smurf in your games are really low. unless they are significantly higher then your rank for ex : diamond player into gold then your allowed to cry about it. anyone in low plat and below i would not even consider a smurf the impact they have on ur games isnt enough. from the looks of it this is also one of your smurf account, talk about hypocrisy.

Yeah I wish it wasnt a free to play game and they just provided you one account. Of course you could still buy another copy of the game with its own account tied to it... idk how they could prevent more accounts. Tie it to a social security number? Lol. I think the easy accessibility of the game is partly why its so huge, so they probably wont ever restrict people from making more accounts. They have a successful method, why fix it if it aint broken, yaknow?

How else would riot maintain playerbase numbers? Riot's player base is already shrinking as it, if they were to remove smurfs/account farming (majority of duplicate account creation reasons) their bottom line is gonna get hurt. Why would a company ever do anything that endangers their profitability?
