What makes a name bannable? * r/leagueoflegends

Trying to get some community feedback on this. Please see the attached reddit post and post your thoughts there or here if you prefer:

I'm currently debating the validity of a name ban I had received for my summoner name 'Anus With Herpes' Now the first thing I would like to point out is this wasn't a ban I received because of other players reporting me, I submitted a support ticket to have an incorrect IP reward corrected, the Riot Support member (Templar Iytsuna) who got the request immediately locked my account after receiving the support ticket. I've had the name for over 6 months and have had interactions with 100's of players both in game and in the message boards with no issues. My argument to the support ticket was that the name contains no profanity, racism, sexual explicit terms etc... He responded that "if players find you're being offensive and making poor usage of it then they have every right to submit a report." I then informed him no such report had been made as he was the one who deleted the name after seeing the support ticket I submitted about a client issue. I've since been attempting to have the issue escalated to a supervisor or another party to review with no such luck. So why am I posting about it here? I'd like to get more of the communities input on the matter, the name does not use any slang only medically correct terms for a body part (BTW Riot an anus is not a reproductive organ) and a virus. While I understand the terms 'anus' and 'herpes' can seem taboo they're not vulgar, they're not being directed to a specific group or minority of peoples. Obviously if I was being reported by a player after every match I played I wouldn't feel this way but that's not the case, the community of players hasn't had an issue with the name in fact the only 'negative' feedback I received from a player that I can recall is them telling me the name was "kinda gross". So I want to know what part of the name constitutes having it banned? Is 'anus' deemed offensive because it's part of our body where waste is exited? Is 'herpes' offensive because it's an incurable virus? (I know there will be some that say it's because it's semi-classification as an STD but herpes is not strictly an STD). At what point does the human digestive track become offensive, is it anything after the small intestine? Are all medical conditions deemed offensive or vulgar? Chickenpox, cancer, heart disease, which ones are acceptable to have in a name? Please let me know what your honest opinions are, I'm trying to get opinions for both sides of the argument from Rioters and Players.

didn't think I'd ever see a thread dumber than people raging about bans they deserved on this board

Since you're asking for opinions, I'll give mine.

medically correct terms for a body part and a virus

I don't think your desire in making the name was just to have a body part and a virus. I think that you chose those specifically for the purpose of being disgusting. You achieved your goal and disgusted someone. It makes sense to change it from what it was. Your new name is better, but barely so.

/Edit 1 As far as not violating the TOU, 5.1.v. Transmitting or communicating any content which, in the sole and exclusive discretion of Riot Games, is deemed offensive, including language that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, sexually explicit, or racially, ethically, or otherwise objectionable;

I think your name violates the 'obscene' or 'otherwise objectionable' category.

/Edit 2 5.1.xi specifically mentions summoner names, and includes the previously quoted categories.

Reportable names is something I find pretty interesting, in that what the community will find as appropriate or inappropriate will probably vary widely. For your name, I don't know if I'd actually report it because I look more for harassing/hate speech names, which you pointed out.

However, think about it this way: how would a person with herpes feel when glancing at your name?

I wonder what kind of lifestyle you live, that makes you ask this type of question.

the bottom line is, if your name is vulgar (yours), or refers to some kind of slur, or is otherwise intended to be inflammatory, it is worthy of either a ban or a mandatory name change.

Crude and vulgar references are not "funny" (I want to get that argument out of the way). What exactly made you think your previous name was ok?Or your current name even slightly improved over the other?
