When that helpless feeling comes...

We've all been there I think. You're playing to your dammned best, tanking engaging or dealing DPS as if your life depends on it and yet its never enough. The enemy is ahead, your down objectives by a lot and its going downhill fast.

People start pointing fingers, the pings come in and then one person hits ff only for 2 stubborn people (not always the best performers on the team) refuse to let the game end. Then all hell breaks loose. Those who want to leave get salty, the support who's behind on exp from roaming keeps dying while warding and then toxicity and blame breaks out but people keep on playing!

I hate when the game becomes like this. We've lost with maybe 5% chance of wining. Everyone's becoming surly and angry because we're trying our best but it gets us nowhere so people immediately look for something to blame.

Eventually the repeated refusals of surrender lead to rage and behaviour that gets people banned and turns them away from playing. In these games I feel trapped and forced to continue to interact and work with people I now consider toxic jerks and stubborn tryhards. Its amazing how fast my perceptive of my team changes and in the end we still lose and just get a few more bans and punishments and a sour taste about the game in return for all the effort put in.

So next time the ff vote comes up maybe think about someone else in the game? Maybe it's better to try again rather than drag things out in a masochistic like mindset of "Never surrender"

In all seriousness though a lot of the issue is people create a self fulfilling prophecy. More games are thrown from attitudes than anything. Being in the right mindset helps a lot. A game should never become a 1v9. A team game means working together through thick and thin. I realize that's not easy with human nature but it is how i've participated in games that felt utterly hopeless and ended up on the winning side.
