No room for "newbs"?

So a constant thing I come across when playing 5v5 is the inability for some people to accept "newbs". By "newbs" I mean people who aren't "perfect" at the game. They have flaws. They aren't "new" per say just not as experienced as most people. Instead of offering advice as to how someone can improve, they yell and curse at them about "sucking" and then report them for feeding. This happened to me just recently where I tried to do bot lane with Master Yi. I've done it before with a moderate amount of success but this case I was against an Ashe and a Bard. So LOTS of slowing effects + ranged attacks. Early game was NOT kind to me. My support was a Thresh that pretty much just stayed back and cast maybe 1 spell and then runs, then blames me for feeding and says Yi is ONLY meant for jung (I partially agree with him but you can use any character anywhere with some skill). I got fed up because he was dragging the other team into this conversation so I tried defending myself but I ended up getting a warning after the game ended because he apparently reported me for harrasment. How the heck does that work??? He and half the other team starts yelling and cursing at me and I get the warning??? This tells me that the report system is automatic. And that if someone gets enough reports, they get an autmatic warning, reguardless if its justified or not. Do the admins not look at these on a case by case basis? I mean I'm sure they do if someone gets a TON of reports but are the reports fully auto? Anyways I digress. My point of this thread is this: PLEASE respect your teammates and your opponents. Yes there is a 5v5 bot version but honest to god that gets too easy after a while. Eventually you have to upgrade to going against other people but its hard to do that when players aren't accepting of "newbs".

The pop-up warning is simply an alert that you've gotten a spike in reports. It's not a warning you're about to get a chat ban or anything.
The best thing you can do if you run into someone like that is to mute them so you don't have to see the abuse, report them after the game, and then wait a few minutes before starting the next game to avoid seeing that player again.
Don't let yourself get dragged down to their level. I can't count the number of people I've seen get restrictions because they were "Just defending themselves". In every case, what the player said back was also abusive. All that does if force the other three teammates to deal with two arguing players instead of one loudmouthed troll.
Don't call for reports. Only one report is needed to flag the game and announcing/asking for reports is considered harassment. The game you mentioned, that had the argument move into /all chat, I would bet you both were reported.

Bottom line, you are responsible for your own behavior, regardless of experience. Thresh was in the wrong for how he treated you. Your mistake was letting him provoke you into an argument.

Tell him "Knock it off" once. After that, mute, report, and forget him.

It's worth noting that the Mute function only applies in-game, so you will be able to see their post-game chat. If this is a concern, you can use the /block command (same structure as /mute).

Additionally, some players have hard-to-spell names. In that case, you can use their champion name. So, to use the example in your OP above, you could type either of these:

/mute @Thresh /block @Thresh

I run into elitist diamonds and golds all the time. I am in bronze, and some refuse to gank for me or something like that purely based on my rank. It disgusts me, and whenever someone brings my rank into an argument I am filled with intense rage. That is like thinking you're better for being taller, or are better at drinking or something like that. I almost prefer the toxic Bronze 5s than the holier than thou elitist pricks i find in gold 2

well sorry I would yell at you to if you were yi bottom as well. I've never ever seen that before. and you should of told thresh to do his job and throw his chain
