EDIT: Thanks for the feedback. Everyone can feel free to continue commenting, but I likely won't read the rest. I now understand two things that I did not before:

  1. I repeated "zero-tolerance words," and, regardless of context, I was rightfully subjected to penalty.
  2. Multiple reports, and single reports, are treated identically and so there is no reason to try to implore others to report.

Thanks again for all clarifications everyone, hopefully my situation could serve as a lesson to others. Mute, report, and move on (I might put that on a t-shirt).

Background: I have been playing since before Season 1, and never had any action taken against my account (chat ban, suspension, etc.). Today I received a 14 day suspension. In the in-client explanation, it gave one chat log as reason for the suspension...I'm trying to figure out how this got me suspended having never had a chat ban or anything else before. I was certainly argumentative, but the punishment does not seem to fit the crime to me; particularly, for a first-time offender.

Personal assessment: My only thought is that it was for the line:

RageExtreme: "retard, f--g, f--gg--t" that feels like the vocab i would expect from you,

where I was quoting the other player, expressing that their game play and verbiage were equally toxic. Given that I was quoting him, and expressing that I don't agree with that language -- rather than expressing it towards anyone -- I'm not sure though.

Questions: Does the suspension seem fair, as a first-time punishment, given the chat log (given me being argumentative/toxic during the game)? Do you guys think it was in error, believing I was using those nasty slurs towards somebody?

Yes, it's fair, and no, it's not in error.

There is never any reason to repeat what someone else says. By repeating their hate speech you became their mouthpiece. Others who likely muted them had to be subjected to the toxicity because you chose to repeat it.

Take it as a lesson to not try and take justice into your own hands if you are not qualified to do so.

That line is exactly what got u banned. Fg and f***t are both 0 tol words. which 2 said in 1 game = 14d ban if 14d has been recieved recently it'll become a perma.

You flamed all game, kda shaming, threatening reports, intentionally making your team perform worse. Seems legit to me.
