Banning system broken

Why is it that trolls get away with doing whatever they want when they openly state that they are trolling, they intentionally feed, they lock roles that are already taken in champ select and the list goes on. Report them every single game yet nothing ever happens. How is it that riot figures that being mean and saying naughty words is worse than completely ruining the game for everyone else. Like really... did everyone forget the fact that riot put in a mute button that you can simply click and make the big bad meany go away?! No that isn't enough, the second someone says ANYTHING that someone else doesn't like it is an instant report because there is absolutely no repercussions for it. I can literally sit there and report every single person every single game and get random people banned for nothing because riot is cracking down on being mean so hard.

Now I assume I am going to get lots of hate about this but in reality, I'm not toxic, I'm not banned nor have I gotten banned for being toxic. I just find it absolutely ridiculous that you can report people for being toxic non stop and some stupid automated system will quick in and ban people for no good reason and yet NOTHING seems to ever happen to the trolls that roll rampant through the community.

Because it isn't always the same troll. Most people who troll don't do it every game, thus the game doesn't target them.

  1. I dont know what "trolling" is.. If you define it, we can tell you if it's punishable or not.

  2. Intentionally feeding IS punishable. Report it. Also, the auto-punisher has been up tuned. They will eventually get punished.

  3. Locking roles already taken is effectively the same as "ignoring the meta".. which has been stated many times is NOT punishable.

In-game behaviors are more difficult for an automated system to nail down than things that go on in chat. Especially when you consider how much Riot wants to avoid false positives. They're working on systems for these (like the intentional feeding detection that recently was pushed out). But until they have automated detection for everything, a lot of these cases will need manually reviewed, so they can't punish for it almost-instantly, like the automated chat system is capable of now.

But it takes time to develop, test, and refine these systems. Would you rather that they waited to deploy the automated system for chat toxicity until they had automated systems in place to cover every single other bannable offense in the game? I'd certainly prefer they start handling things where they can as soon as possible, and branch out from there...

People don't get banned for nothing, or at least it's incredibly rare, and if someone does Riot would be more than willing to overturn the punishment. Reports alone do not get people punished, they simply trigger a review of the account, and if nothing is found then the account will not be punished.

Also, there are repercussions for continuously false reporting. If players falsely report others continuously, then their report weight will be lowered, eventually to the point to where the system will ignore their reports all together. The thing is, this is very subtle, so no one really notices it. There is no indication or notification that people receive to know if their report weight has been lowered.

The system still has some work to do to detect toxic gameplay. They are starting to get there, detecting people who intentionally feed etc.

It's good that they eliminate people who are toxic in chat, and hopefully in the future they start eliminating more people who are toxic in terms of their gameplay and pre-game actions as well.

No I agree, I get trolled so often...I've been chat banned twice, once by a whole troll team who were in one teambuilder, another time bc I got frickin pissed at a bunch of damn trolls and finally lost it and raged at this literally high volibear mid...VOLIBEAR MID BUILDING ONLY THORNMAIL

My point being when it comes down to all of it is why is being "toxic" the absolute number one worst thing that you can do? Really... I thought that free speech was a thing where I could say whatever I want. The system is to the point where you say something is retarded, you swear once, you do anything that someone in grade 2 might get sent to the office for and riot bitch slaps you with a 2 week ban? Sure I agree that racism should be banned but come the fuck on. My last sentence would be enough to set off this automated system because I said a naughty word. God forbid that people would just click the mute button and it is taken care of.
