My Permanent Ban and the Logical Fallacy of Permanent Bans
When I hear about permanent bans, the people who suffer from them (1) say things that are so abnormally obscene that the person could be mistaken for a sociopath, (2) feed intentionally or AFK after not getting their way, and/or (3) grief fellow teammates by purposely blocking them from getting creeps/objectives OR ignoring team fights on purpose. While I'm aware that I do use vulgar language when in the heat of the competitive spirit of the game, the vulgar language I use is usually talking to myself about enemy teammates like "Oh shit, what a retarded malphite." This can be seen in my chat log that was included in my permanent ban. The only things within my chat log that I should be held accountable was for yelling at my teammate for purposely staying away from us and ignoring us because he didn't get his way on a call that was made earlier in the match, and for saying "cya nerd." YES. I'm aware retaliation isn't acceptable, but is my retaliating truly enough for an irrevocable PERMANENT BAN? @LYTE himself said that they were planning on doing a permanent chat restriction for VERBALLY toxic players, so why not have that done? My AFK record is flawless. My feeding/griefing record is flawless. The most I have ever done is retaliate because of another player being toxic. I am an educator in the upper level Biology courses - I'm sure I wouldn't be allowed near the public if I was truly some monstrous fool who causes people stress and make them hate their lives. I understand the banning system, but players who are optimal for their team, who play as a team, should be sought after, not scared away. After any time where I'm ever rude to a player (which means they were INITIALLY rude) I always compliment them towards the end and tell the team to just focus and we can win. This is an ONLINE, COMPETITIVE, game. There was definitely no reason for myself to get a permanent ban over verbal discrepancies that are honestly minor in the grand scheme of toxic behaviors.
Shortened Recap: Permanent bans should be for players who go beyond retaliation, and (1) make life threats, (2) grief, (3) feed, or (4) afk, as a result of their frustration. I have never done any of the above, and I have only retaliated in a generally minor/moderate way in comparison to people who actually have issues and need to step away from their computer due to their lack of logic. I expect no lift on the permanent ban, but I definitely would like to point out to Riot how pointless, idiotic, and unnecessary it is when there could be a lot of alternative methods to deal with certain behaviors. I'm just gonna go on my alternate account now - you guys sure got me. lol....
