Player wishes cancer and death upon my entire family, yet continues to play

After 3 years of being gone it has been a rough start to returning to League of Legends. The reason I initially quit playing was due to all the players who intentionally trolled and ruined the game and never received actual punishment other than a 2 day break from the game. So these players would continue this cycle ruining the game for others over and over because they never have to worry about their account being banned due to Riot not wanting to lose players who are buying through the store and putting money in their pockets. What they do not understand is they are keeping these players around who do not belong and losing the core players that keep this game going. While adhering to these trolls is ruining the game and players admit this in games over and over again. You cannot go 5 games without someone upset about the players in this game intentionally ruining the game.

If this was taken care of there would not be so many players who act this way in the game. League of Legends used to be a very great community of players back when it first released and when players were irrational in game and acted this way you could search their name days later and find out the account was actually banned. Recently i played with a character who wished cancer upon me and my entire family. He continually fed the enemy team one death after another and purchased tears all game until it was over. The reason he did this was because i stated pregame "I hope we win this game this is my last promo" He retaliated with "I'll make sure that does not happen." In which he did. He went straight to the mid lane with me and intentionally fed my lane enemy by walking up to him and hitting stop so he would not attack. We lost the game and he admitted to the behavior in chat. I took to the report option after the game thinking this should be a for sure ban. No it was not. He still plays to this day and probably does this to other players and Riot does not care. Since then i do not disclose if i am in a promo and just hope for the best luck.

When you can not rank up due to constant teammates intentionally feeding, trolling as a ability power ADC, or trolling support as a non support champion without repercussions, this game gets ridiculous. Between trolls, feeders, and rage quitters, racist's in game, and people wishing death in real life to you and you'r family only to see them continue playing to this day it becomes near impossible to get promoted due to trolls. However due to the lack of actually banning accounts because i am sure it would "hurt" revenue these people continue to do this. The game is getting repulsive to play while they allow this behavior and do not ban accounts. I hope the in game store money earned from these trolling players is worth the chances of losing the majority of the core community because it is happening. Give it 3 years Riot and this behavior will catch up with you and numbers will continue to fall.

Just my honest opinion on all of this. At this point i still play league of legends in hopes of Riot actually turning a new leaf and taking care of these issues in game. However since i quit before i think things have gotten worse. So if things do not change soon i may be uninstalling the game and moving on like the rest of my gaming community I am involved in. I have a core of about a dozen players who like to play together and they have all moved on from this game due to the behavior of these other players. One day i would love to get them back into League of Legends by explaining things have changed and hope for a return as playing with them has been some of my funnest gaming experiences on League of Legends. Too many people are being burnt right now so Riot can line its pockets. Otherwise why else would they allow an account to continue playing on its servers that wishes death and cancer upon a teammates entire family? Unless Riot is okay with that behavior? Maybe that is the case though since this player still is involved in it's community.

in my sentiment im glad he didn't get punished. you shouldn't have a problem with what a random stranger says to you( in fucking text). just ignore it and move on.

Have you ever experienced this? I bet you haven’t. If you experienced this kind of thing you’d think differently. People do NOT deserve another person trying to hurt them even if it’s a game.

I have experienced this, albeit rare, I've learned over time to simply not get upset over some random stranger online with what they say over text.

Stop giving words power and you won't have people trying to hurt others through text in the first place. They know people could get offended over what they say,and there's only one true way to counter it.

The idea isn’t just that these people say these sort of things, it’s that they’re ruining the experience of the game. For example if I’m in a game even if I’m not offended, the person saying those sort of things make me want to leave and never come back. If you like league of legends why would you want this is as the resolution? Lose one toxic player or 20 non toxic players? It’s a fact that most of the community isn’t toxic, so why let the minority run out the majority of players?

Counter argument: if you simply would not get upset over text,then your experience won't get ruined.

For example if I’m in a game even if I’m not offended, the person saying those sort of things make me want to leave and never come back.

Well that means you were upset over their words,which i am telling you not to be.

Becuase this will discourage most players from being toxic. As well as helping the community not get negatively affected from toxicity.

First of all,that's assuming the entire majority cares about toxicity. Second, if the majority adhered to my solution,then they will not care about toxicty,and the minority will not run out the majority.

I still don’t see why this is ok to you, not everyone deserves to see this in a game. Also, people who say this sort of thing, often try to get reactions out of others, so if chat doesn’t work it’ll be off to troll through other means. And I and many, many other people are only human we can’t just sit idly by and be insulted like this, so why does it matter if YOU’RE ok with this? Also as an added question, how exactly will this stop toxicity? If people can say whatever they want with the idea of “ignore it” the game dies, not fixes itself.

A few points why it is okay for people to say things:

It's the internet. Nobody knows who you are in a game, thus not having any ability to harm you beyond "muh feelings." if you are vulnerable enough to let yourself be hurt, you will be hurt. Or you can just disregard them.
Riot hasn't supported a method by which Chat can be ignored or removed. Players are forced to use a /mute all function in order to ignore the chat. Yes many people are using chat now as a way to bait other players into arguments that end up resulting in automated systems to punish players who respond. However nothing happens to players who use the chat system in a malicious way.

This is even more of a reason to NOT punish players as the # of players who are punished for being foolishly baited or manipulated by other malicious players is growing higher. The automated punishment system cannot determine well enough if for example a premade team happens to target you with reports if you do not play a certain way or if you respond to them in comms.

This type of system punishes a lot of players who react badly to this type of internet bullying. I myself am one of them

Do you really want to see players lose their accounts because of a few bad games? There are players who have played thousands upon thousands of games in the past 8 or 9 years of League's lifespan, spent hundreds or even thousands of dollars supporting this game, and now have suspensions or even permanent ban on their accounts. Perma ban is too harsh for anyone. Threats should not be allowed but most people are smart enough not to make a threat. Everything else is just banter.

Just let players use the chat or let them remove the chat as a person like myself do not like to use /mute all function in every game. Riot can change it and make it a toggle button for Chat to be On or Off. Chat is getting too many people in trouble for such an inadequate automated system as this. Allow players to opt out of Chat so they're not targeted by malicious chat users.

These people just have issues its not a rare thing to see these days and the only thing you can do is report them and move just like another guy said.
