Can we discuss something? Advanced Bots "chat"

Whats there to discuss about a "gamemode" april fools joke in player behavior & moderation?

  • Riot Made the opposing team's names bots so you think its an AI game.
  • Riot added fixed responses for beginning and end so its believable.
  • All chat is disabled

That last one, was no joke. I can't say I've ever had this much relaxation, chill, and positivity before since before I installed this game. /all seems to be the bane of everybody's existence, here's an accurate representation of what all chat is even used for:

  • 20% BM
  • 40% Calling for reports
  • 10% Calling players bad
  • 10% Saying the triggering and unsportsmanlike phrase "ggez"
  • 10% Salt
  • 9.9% actually laughing with your opponent
  • 0.1% giving helpful advice / asking a nice question

So what's my suggestion? I can't make decisions for riot nor am I saying always disable all chat, but I've been enjoying norms and even ranked with it off without the /all report teemo /all gg counter pick /all need a tent? /all ggez, and it was because of this advanced bots mode that influenced me to turn it off, hell it even makes me feel less toxic. While I'm not the most toxic human being and never been punished before, I'm not the best social butterfly when it comes to /all as the moment a salt or blame happens I instinctively chime in.

After all, why do you need communication with the enemy team? There's just no need for it, I'm not saying remove all chat, but I'm saying if you're feeling like you're not having as much relaxation while playing, or want to reform yourself better, try disabling /all chat. I should report myself for not disabling it sooner.

20% BM

more like 80% IMO. EDIT: definitions of BM may vary. Mine includes a lot of other stuff on your list too soo :/

I would be all for eliminating allchat completely. even if it were for ranked only

The option to mute All Chat is quite literally in the options for you. It's there. Just use it. There's even a feature to mute individual players.

While I'm not disregarding the stupidly high amount of toxic behavior in the game now days, I feel like it goes without saying that this accurate representation is merely opinionated, so I'm not sure where to draw the line of what I should say for or against this thread. Though, it is true that I've been playing better as of late, after making more and more use of the mute feature in the game. I still dish out the reports to the toxic/trolls that lead me to do so, and it doesn't always prevent the stigma that causes our loss, but it still helps.

As a personal footnote to your issue though, least in my opinion. I hate the idea of completely disregarding the ability to speak with the enemy team. I do occasionally like to chat with my opponents, even if it's just in jest of each other's skills. Horsing around and friendly banter shouldn't be punished, because someone refuses to back down from someone acting out in a toxic manner. It's a feature that's disabled in Heroes of the Storm as well, and while I like the game, I hate that it is a thing. Games are quick enough to where it doesn't mean as much as it would here, longevity usually determining how effective the chat could be for the players involved, but it feels like it's taking away from the game.
