What To Do When Someone DC's/RageQuits
I was just in a game where our mid-laner dc'd/ragequit after about 8 minutes of gameplay. What is my team supposed to do in a situation like this? The player never reconnected and because it was later than the remake mark, we were just guaranteed an automatic loss. This is completely unfair considering many of us in the game are trying our hardest to win and gain LP. It's backwards because instead of the dc'd person getting punished, the team is being punished 2 times over! Not only do we have to stay in the game until we can early-surrender, but we also LOSE LP.
I propose a solution: The game knows when someone has left because it announces when someone has disconnected and you can see so in the post-game lobby. Since this information is clearly noticed, why not set a timer for the game to offer another remake attempt (say 2 minutes after the dc), or at-least offer a prevented loss? This way the players that have to deal with a dc are not punished at all for something they could not control.
There is a feeling of utter helplessness that every player confronts when they have a dc on their team. Why contribute to that feeling by adding on the punishments of having to play out a game that is almost a guaranteed loss and then taking away their earned LP afterwards? Please, I ask that someone at Riot, considers my solution and looks into this issue. Nothing about this solution seems too unfeasible, so there should be no reason why it cannot be at least attempted. If there is anything that would impede the process of using a solution like this, please let me know. I think it would be excellent PR and just a good communicative effort to tell your players why something like this could not work if that were the case.
I want to play League of Legends, but lately I have just been encountering more and more reasons to stop. Thank you for reading and considering my option.
