This is a completely deserved punishment, and I think the expectation from Riot here is that the two previous permanent suspensions you received might have been some sort of an indicator that your behavior is unacceptable. You gave up in all three of these games, and you admitted to trolling your team in the first game before it even started by troll banning.

I have to say, I'm surprised the two previous permanent bans weren't enough to guide you towards less toxic behavior, especially since the account you just got permabanned has five seasons of ranked history you threw away.

Ya dude im a fucking dumbass.. and im not crying about my ban. im just wondering why this is a perma ban or why that even exists for anything otrher than real life threats.. shit talk and banter has always been part of gaming for me as ive grown up.. the mute button exists so why should you be banned when players who dont want to hear it can fix it with a click..

Mute so you don't have to deal with something anymore. Report so the next guy doesn't have to deal with it at all.

You weren't permabanned for these games alone. You were permabanned because you received multiple punishments in the past, which are warnings to you that your behavior is unacceptable, and you decided to ignore these warnings. By continuing the behavior that got you punished in the past, you basically showed Riot that you have no intent of reforming your behavior even after the many chances you already had, so Riot decided to permaban you.

Getting perma banned means you've been banned 3 other times in the past. 2 chat restrictions and a 2 week ban has to be happen before you get a perma ban. Every 3 months you go down a tier. You do have some questionable behavior but I wouldn't think it would be enough to ban you for... But that is not up to me.

If you actually did throw on purpose then you deserve it though.

i can understand form of punishment for aggro behavior but i wasnt racist i didnt call anyone anything over the top i said a few people where bad or not smart but holy shit this is a video game and now i am perma banned for something as simple as calling someone who called me bad bad too? Really?

I only know of one 3-letter word that's filtered on the boards (that is, replaced with %%%). And it's a homophobic term - considered hate speech, and definitely over the top.

Well, no. The current systems issued punishments based on recidivism. The scale looks like this:

  • 10-game chat restriction
  • 25-game chat restriction
  • 14-day time ban
  • perma-ban

When a case is judged punishable, the system looks to see what your last punishment was, then issues the next one up the scale. So in a real sense, you weren't perma-banned for these games. You were perma-banned because you failed to clean up your act after your previous punishments.

Thanks, Jubbinaut for posting that list. I couldn't remember it off the top of my head and I'm glad someone posted it. As for Twista, if you listen to this post, punishment is based on a 4 step process.

All of those things get escalated to 14 day bans and permanent bans. Sometimes it takes time because there isn't a ref watching over every game.

For the first half of each game, I was on your side. Here's the point (in hindsight, mind you), when you definitely should have muted everyone and just finished the game

These are the points when your chat went from fine to not fine. Mute and move on, my friend. Even if your team objectively is bad, stiff upper lip. You aren't responsible for their play. If they are as bad as you think they are, they will drop down in MMR.

Intentionally feeding. For someone who expects the best in teammates, you are surprisingly liable to stop playing at your own best. If I saw this case in the tribunal, I would have voted to punish for those 4 lines alone.

I'm aware you've already made your decision here, but for anyone else that's reading over this thread: It is **not **Riot's fault when you get permanently banned and there is clear proof in the chat logs that it's deserved.

Riot's job when it comes to player behavior is to hold the community to a certain standard (a standard every single one of us agreed to when creating our accounts). When individuals consistently break that standard, thus negatively impacting other players, it's both fiscally and socially beneficial to remove those individuals from the community.

I'm almost 30, so I'm well aware of what does and does not fly in the workplace. Any respectable establishment (i.e. not McDonald's) would fire you instantly for sexual harassment, whereas unless you were borderline not showing up to work at all, you would not get fired for doing a shitty job.

I...what? Everything I mentioned there is literal fact. Riot has a set of rules that they enforce for their community, just like any private business that deals with consumers, and if a consumer consistently breaks those rules it's only logical to cut that person/entity out of your consumer-base.

As an example, many schools have a dress code for the students that study there. If a student consistently broke the dress code, despite being warned numerous times, that student would be punished for being unable to follow the school's rules. This system is a direct parallel to how Riot enforces their rules; if a player consistently breaks the code of conduct, despite being warned numerous times, that player will be punished for being unable to follow Riot's rules.

I didn't say that because of the color of your name. I said that because of the lack of any humanity in your post. How do you have such little emotion, or personality? Do you have opinions? Have you ever made a mistake, or do you ever disagree with established authority (in this case, Riot)?

How does this attitude translate to real life? Do you unquestionably bow to authority? If so, you owe your standard of living to those of us who don't, or didn't.

I agree with you for the most part, I just don't think that toxic chat is the disease. Toxic chat is a symptom of several factors within this game. I think it is unfair to treat those who blow up in chat as the problem and not address the root causes. The only 2 places where we see this dismissal of dissent is here, and on r/lol.

Also, since the mute button is the best option we have against those who are toxic in chat, why not just permaban them from chat? This way they don't make smurfs, which they are more likely to be toxic on. I don't see how this isn't a win-win, except for not fulfilling the strange need to see someone punished.

K so this is a bit baity, but I'll bite. I definitely have opinions about this stuff, though like my previous posts a lot of what I discuss with people on PB&M is just straight up fact. Private businesses have full reign over how they handle their customers, and Riot's policies are really not that different from most established companies.

I disagree with Riot pretty regularly, even occasionally when it comes to how things are handled internally with the Arbiters. The vast majority of my posting history for years on the Boards has been threads about how Riot is not supporting the community correctly, and I've been pretty consistent with my views there.

Which factors, specifically, are you referring to? Personally, I feel like there are three main things that contribute to toxic chat:

  • Not getting the role you want in Champion Select
  • Widely variable performance game-to-game by the same player
  • Predisposition towards frustration or anger

The new Team Builder stuff is designed to almost completely fix the first bullet point, the second is almost an impossibility for Riot to fix (unless they release better ways to train specific skills, which they need to get on top of), and the third is what the verbal behavioral systems really dig into.

There are a few issues with this approach:

  • A player that's verbally toxic enough to warrant a permaban is statistically a lot more likely to switch over to gameplay toxicity when there's no way to verbally abuse other players. It's much better for the rest of the community, again speaking statistically, to remove them from play entirely.
  • Someone being permanently chat banned is a hindrance both to that person and the team, and is likely to make winning a lot more difficult/frustrating. Pings can accomplish a lot, but you can't do either of the following, for example:
  • Discuss composition in champion select
  • Offer any strategical communication outside of "missing", "danger", "alert", and "help"

I don't really think there are tons of players eager to play with someone that literally can't communicate with the team other than pings, but I'm no statistician.

This way they don't make smurfs, which they are more likely to be toxic on.

Particularly toxic smurfs can get permanently banned by level 8, and for most of that time they end up being chat restricted anyway. Smurfing is definitely an issue, but Riot's been dialing in on the systems' speed and it's actually pretty impressive how fast they are gotten rid of nowadays.

I can remember way back in the day where people were getting to level 30 spamming blatant hate speech, we've come a long way since then.

Truthfully man, just quit. There are so many other games in which you will not feel like you are in grade school while playing. I am constantly "punished" on league, and have played tons of other online games and never had a problem at all. It's this game, this community, and this company. No other game has this problem.
