Riot Employees letting friends verbally abuse?

I just played a game where the opposing team had a riot employee on it, and when I asked him a question (admittedly I had a snarky, sarcastic tone), his friend called me a bitch and then just decided to keep verbally abusing me. The Riot employee THEN proceeded to tell me to watch my language instead, when I never even used any offensive language. I told him I hoped he'd tell his friend to watch his verbal abuse, but he completely ignored me.

So verbal abuse is okay with Riot when an employee allows friends to do it? Is this really how this game is now?

I mean, it's not like Riot Employees are saints or anything, they can act wrongly too you know.

Just treat him like a normal person: Is he a dick? Report him, Is he not a dick? Don't. Simple eh?

Fuck no, I spent a few hundred bucks on my account and I run the risk of getting permabanned. The bar is supposed to be higher for him. He's supposed to set an example. If he wants to be a douche and not represent the company he should do it on an account without RIOT in the name. He should be fired, or at the very least given a few days off. In no job on this earth are you supposed to antagonize customers. They need to make an example of their employee. They are always so quick to LYTE smite people in these forums. Their employee deserves the same treatment. Regardless of if you think riot employees are allowed to be dicks or not, they should be held to a higher standard than the rest of us because this is their livelihood, remember?

Playing a game against an employee and getting told to watch your language, despite no offensive language, does not come close to running risk of being banned. It's unlikely that Riot employee you're playing with can ban you, and even less likely that he would even if he could. We don't know what else the Riot employee said, only that he was silent and that he didn't berate his team-mate in all chat, because, well, why should he? To make you feel better? Their job is not to make you feel better. We don't know what the Riot employee did on team chat, or while talking to the friend privately. Given that it was a RIOT employee, what the friend was doing was probably not okay by him.

Simply put: We don't actually have any context for what happened here, we just know a guy got upset because the Riot employee told him not to use offensive language while nothing was said in all chat by the Rioter to his friend.

I looked into this game a few days ago, so my bad for not clearing up misconceptions sooner. The tl;dr is the Rioter was incredibly patient with the OP -- even going so far as to be open to still answering questions for him -- despite how antagonistic the OP was towards him from the start of the game.

As for other players who make rude remarks:

The OP can report the player they think was toxic just like any other time and the reform systen will do the rest. Why idiots like OP think rioters should be banning people mid game or outside the ban system is beyond me. OP shouldn't be wasting everyone's time bitching on the forums. All they have to do is report after the game.

Yes. Rioters are subject to the system the same as everyone else, and are expected to use it themselves as well. Being punished by it in-game can have real life repercussions for them at work also.

really this is the first thing you should have done, and hopefully you did because if it really is a riot employee then it really should be brought to the company itself first to verify this because even if this isn't enough to have any serious disciplinary action taken against them, then it will at least be something to make note of on their record and could possibly be something for the company to consider looking into as far as all their employees go.

Also, Riot is a company composed of many employees and individuals. I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few in there that are not as great as the rest of them. Every company has a few of these and hopefully they won't let a few bad apples ruin their reputation.

Hopefully though if it indeed was a riot employee then they did tell their friend to be quiet and if indeed the friend did not shush after being told so then they had disciplinary action taken on their account.

He did really play against a Riot employee. I checked his match history using http://na.op.gg and found a guy with "Riot XXXXX" as summoner names. Non-Riot employees are not allowed to use "Riot" during the creation of their names.

Screenshots are more for the player themselves. Having proof for yourself says a lot more, because without that, what can you prove if they lie? If something is as extreme as they say, proof is necessary to uphold your own words.

I still think this is inappropriate.

First off, how did you know they were a Riot employee? Did they tell you in the game they were? And you BELIEVED them? Ha. If Riot is anything like other game companies, admitting in the game that you work there has severe consequences up to, and including, termination.

If you received an email stating your language was not allowed, that's how Riot GMs communicate with players.

You make a lot of accusations with no proof of anything. If I were you, I'd stop this and hope you are not actioned for your claims.

Many Riot employees' summoner names consist of the label "Riot", which is only allowed to them, so this is probably why the OP spotted it.

Second, it's not like any other gaming companies. A Riot employee is allowed to use their official accounts with the label "Riot" and play on them. This will not lead to termination and I have seen this happening a lot of times.

Third, name shaming is not allowed on this forum so there is no way the OP can show any proof. Stop making unrealistic demands.

It's not uncommon. I've seen quite a few Boards threads with screenshots showing Riot employees playing with the community. I've also also seen videos with Riot employees playing with folks in random occasions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USuBnYGriiY

It's not uncommon and it's not against the rules, as long as they do not hurt the company's image by committing offences regulated by Riot.

Also, do some research on the OP's match history using http://na.op.gg and some other reputable sites and you will find out he wasn't lying about playing against a team consisting of a Riot employee.

Just goes to show you that the people who blow smoke up your ass about how positive and nice you are supposed to be in games are actually assholes themselves with asshole friends. He should be fucking fired. If a regular person can get their account banned that they spent untold amounts of money on, he should fucking be fired. This is exactly why no one respects the summoners code. RIOT IS SELECTIVE ABOUT WHO IT PUNISHES. If I don't fucking flame people nonstop for 10 games, I can pretty much say anything I want to someone in a game and if you dont' screenshot it and send it to support, nothing is going to happen. I can get irritated in a game and just afk. And if I haven't afked in about 20 games guess what.....It wont mean shit. People troll their accounts from plat all the way to bronze by intent feeding etc, and have to make forum posts about it to get banned. And now the icing on the cake....actual people from RIot, engaged in fuckery. It's like a cop pulling one of his buddies over for a DUI and then letting him go. Or like a cop riding shotgun with one of his buddies while they drive drunk. Not okay.

I also love how everyone just automatically assumes you are lying as if no one from Riot would ever show any favoritism towards a friend or relative who was being a dick in game with them. To them....Riot and all their affiliates are the symbol of perfection. I know South Koreans are fond of this game, but it feels like NORTH Korea more often than not.

Many Riot employees go by the label "Riot" in their summoner names, whilst this label is forbidden for the general public.

Also if you are not friends with the OP, http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com will only show his recent ranked matches.

As for the "Riot" thing, yes, that could be the case but we don't know for sure. It could also be someone with username RlOT (rLoT) or Ríot or any other weird character combination that simply hasn't been caught yet.

Well if you actually read the context clearly, it was actually the said employee's friend who committed the offence, and kept spamming and harassing the OP, despite it was clearly against the rule. The Riot employee did not ask his friend to stop and instead let him continue. If this was true, the Riot employee should be punished. The punishment doesn't have to be heavy. It just has to serve the purpose of letting him know that ruining his company's reputation is never okay.

That's why I said "if it is true", we know one side of the story, but we don't know the perspective from the accused. We don't know the truthfulness of the story, but it's fairly easy to say who was right or wrong if the OP doesn't lie and the story is thorough.

Doesn't it apply to pretty much all of the anecdote posts in this forum section? We often exclusively know one side of the stories. In this case, if Riot decides to look into the case and sees something fishy about that employee, a punishment is warranted, whether he likes it or not. Riot has to remind him abusing his employee status is not okay.

That's my take on this matter. I don't care if this story is true or false because it does not concern us and should not concern us, as the outsiders and strangers. The OP was telling us that mainly to inform, not for us to judge and inspect the genuineness of the story. Instead, it's Riot's job to do so.
