If you are the jungler, part of your duty is to either ping your team away from dragon (if you don't have smite up), or to smite the dragon (if you do).
While it's not really acceptable for them to flame you, you basically are intentionally leashing it for the enemy team if you as the jungler are attempting to secure dragon without having smite up - which is akin to "inting" in that you're intentionally leashing the drag for the enemy.
Furthermore, while it's nice to have your teammates ping, it's also your job to monitor the minimap and enemy players for two reasons: to ensure you know if they're counterjungling, and to plan your ganks.
It really sounds like you're heavily about this whole "stick to my pathing" here and you aren't adapting as a jungler - that's not your teammates' fault and they certainly have a right to be frustrated with you if you're dying/giving up dragons simply because you aren't jungling appropriately for the situation.
