2017 Season Ranked Rewards Eligibility

Going off of a previous post i made, I received a 14 day suspension for my account on 10-9-17. I have been seeing a lot of ranked rewards requirements I don't think I've seen before. I saw a requirement that stated:

  • Players issued a ban of seven days or more from 8/22/2017 are ineligible for this year’s rewards.

The questions I have for this topic are as followed,

  1. Does this include/mean suspensions as well?
  2. If so, does that mean I don't get:
  • A loading screen border based on my ranking for this season
  • The season's victorious skin
  • A summoner icon based on where I ranked during the 2017 season
  • Profile Insignia and
  • A victorious ward skin that was mentioned by Riot as part of their ranked rewards

If someone could kindly answer these for me I would appreciate it :)

  1. Yes, suspension and ban are the same thing as far as League is concerned.
  2. From our understanding, you will be ineligible for any end of season rewards - border, icon, skin, chromas, ward skin, insignia, etc. It will basically be as if your account didn't ever go through the end of this season - or you hadn't played ranked this season.

Note that the "cutoff" for suspensions is not new, and has been a thing for multiple seasons now. Generally speaking, about 3 months before the end of the season, Riot announces the cutoff for the season (they announced it in early August from what I can remember this year).

Thanks for answering. I actually didn't know about the cutoff (or I probably did and forgot :p). But in my opinion, if i do manage to clutch gold after my ban before the season ends, I feel like I should get a border or something that shows I actually did make it to gold. But on the other hand, I also I can understand if I don't receive the victorious skin or ward skin seeing in my opinion that those are accessories for good behavior. Using that reasoning getting a gold border shows for a fact that I as a player of this game, achieved a certain rank among others. If I don't, oh well, I'll get em next season ¯_(ツ)_/¯.

Well, it's not like you won't get the history - it'll show up on sites like op.gg that you got the rank this season. The idea is that getting a good rank relies both on being a sportsmanlike player as well as skill - if you are punished for being nonsportsmanlike Riot doesn't want to give you incentives to get the rank, if that makes sense.

The cutoff exists to allow players before that time the chance to reform from their ban and re-earn their season rewards - after the cutoff Riot doesn't see enough time for players to show reform between their punishment and the end of season to justify giving rewards.
