My is it not ok to yell at a toxic person but ok to be a snarky a hole to another player???

I have noticed that many people in this community are very pompus and snarky. They believe they are better then people in thier tone and what the say. Now if i were to have done that in my time playing the game i would have been instabanned for toxic behavior. But i see people do it all the time but they slip in something about riot or riot said this. When they say that they can get away with all types of in my opinion much more toxic behavior. I would rather have some guy say i fucking suck then have a pretentious guy talk to me like he is on a diffrent level. (The irony of this post however is that the people i am talking about will respond to this post and act exactly like im saying)

Yes some people can slip through the cracks every now and then, but as long as people are valid reporting them then they eventually will be punished if they consistently show poor behavior. Regardless though, retaliating at a toxic player by being a toxic player yourself solves nothing except getting you both punished and giving the toxic player exactly what they wanted: a negative reaction from you.

If you must defend yourself then do so in either a neutral or positive manner. You're not defending yourself if you're retaliating negatively-you're just being a jerk instead. From Understanding the Tribunal:

4) That player in my game was far worse than me. Why am I banned??? a) I'll keep this one simple: retaliation isn't OK. Reacting to a toxic player by being toxic just incites that player to be even worse--it also ruins the game for up to 8 other players. It is far, far worse to watch two people yelling at each other all game than it is to watch 1 player ranting into blank space. Almost everyone in the game can find someone out there that behaves worse than they do--but so what? Finding someone worse doesn't justify your behavior or justify retaliation. We expect more out of our players. What players often don't realize is... those other players in your game that you thought were worse? Nearly 100% of the time, those players were banned even before you were. If someone is being toxic, just report them and move on. If you retaliate, both of you will be banned. It's really that simple.
