Why I main support and why it makes me hate playing ranked.

I'm a support main in bronze 1. I love playing tanker champs with kits that's have large outplay potential and the ability to get my ADC fed in lane. Champs such as Blitzcrank Braum Thresh and Nautilus. This allows me to be in a lane with my friend who is an ADC main. I still play other roles, know how to last hit, and carry, however these are still the champions who I like the most. The problem is trying to play in soloque with people other than my friends. The lack of communication of tens causes misplays that can lose is lame and maybe the game. As a result I often get flamed and yelled at for being a bad player and rarely receive praise after a good play. Many other times when I am able to play with friends the added communication allows us to win lane about 90% of the time. Unfortunately the feeding at low elo is abundant and detrimental. No one understands the idea of just farming and winning by having more CS in lane. As a result we tend to not play ranked in excess due to the stress very loss brings. I still love league and will continue to play support.

To every other support main in bronze: We are few, but we are strong. If you do not have friends to help make your life easier, stay strong. Mute people if you have to and remember it's just a game.

I personally love supports that buff their team like Soraka and Janna and at one point Sona but sona lost her arua identity and became a poke Mage

It's a game indeed, I'm a little bit higher in the division but trust me. Your live won't become easyer. It will become even more difficult. Current in silver I have this mindset before the game starts:

  • It's solo Q, everyone will feed, if they don't you should honnor them.

I mainly focus on roaming I do it like this (note that I only have this mindset with a roam heavy support):

  • We rush level 2 & try to kill them. We kill their turret as fast as possible and rotating mid for the snowball. If that doesn't work I'm already thinking when I should roam since we have to snowball somewhere.
  • So if botlane remains even or we get behind I try to roam as much a possible on mid & try to maintain vision in the enemy jungle. Mostly arround midlane
  • I sometimes roam top after a recall. I really can put them offguard
  • Some of my roams I try to combine with the jungler for a 100% succes kill. This is really effective when ganking top.

The only problem with roaming is that your adc has to known how to freeze a lane. Else he will get dunked whole game. Most people in bronze wouldn't known how todo this. Try to explane it to them. In the current meta adc's will litterly have no impact before 20 minutes. You can't rely on a even adc to win games if just one of your solo lanes is behind. You will lack damage. Than the only solution is to build damage or add least more offensive. Some examples:

  • item 3068 on Leona / Thresh
  • item 3100 on Blitzcrank / Sona

In season 6 these situation will most likely happen less frequently since adc will getting stronger again. Still one note that their is a differents between having not enouge damage or having not enouge engage to apply the damage. In that scenario you will more likely go for something like item 3800 on tanky supports. For most AP supports it will probaly be something else like splitpush with item 3060, full AP or just been a regular support.

LOL is this a joke? why are u blaming the ADC? i bet ur a roaming supp, adc is nothing without their supp and u neeed to stay glued to ur adc, last last game i won as supp w/o ss, and please dont get ss u dont need it, just get stuff to boost ur adc

I made it to Gold V...Still working on it, but I'm a Janna main. I don't really play tanky supports like the ones you do, but it didn't take me too long to get to Silver II, but once I got there, it took me months to get to Gold V and that's only because I played Xin X, Hecarim, Shyvana, and other roles. To make it in ranked in low elo, I feel like you have to switch to a carry role. Its hard to rely on everyone, but its what has to happen, which isn't awful. I love support though. My sister's boyfriend is Diamond 1 and he asked me if I wanted to be on their team because it's hard finding support mains in higher elo because everyone switched to carry roles. The fact he thought I was good enough was astonishing, but I want to make it to high elo before doing that crazy stuff XD good luck!

Fixed it for you. Anyway, as a support main , I can 100% agree with this. I just finished (It was not rank so its less bad, but still, WTF) playing a game as Soraka, where my adc was a Kog who insisted on trading with Graves, and they where both level 5 with basic items , as he insisted that I could just heal him up for the damage that he took, as if it didn't cost me health. Every game I play, I pray to the league gods that my carry knows what he is doing in lane. I like to play more disengage supports, or peel supports, so I can tell really quickly if the adc is good or not, and let me tell you , that is even worst because if my adc if bad, then there is literally nothing I can do other then try my best to keep them alive. But I will not use my Shen ultimate on you "Ezreal Main" if you arcane shit shift into a 800 stack Nasus.

This is a thing. You want to play a support in solo queue that creates opens, but doesn't require perfect timing between the ADC and the support.

AthenasVendetta11/5/2015, 7:42:48 PM1 votes

Its a numbers game really there are thousands of great players in the lower elo's but have never risen due to these numbers amassed against them. Then you have hundreds of thousands of decent players, and millions of okay ones.... Its more important to know your teammate than you enemy it will determine how and when you fight.

All you need to due is look at the stats of those players on your team... For example the most recent game I had an "adc main" play Caitlyn however he couldn't or wouldn't trade or harass. in the end I poke down the enemy Jinx enough to kill however he found a couple of autos on the tower far more interesting... his champion average kda across the game "1.7" mine? near a 5 massive difference for good reason but those that deserve it will rise and find better games just keep pushing.

As a support main I Feel your pain. I enjoy duoing with a friend who will either ADC or jungle to help make sure that we get the ADC fed. I usually have to talk a quick game plan with the ADC to try to mitigate a lot of disaster. I also usually pick safer supports when soloing as well.

You're like my long-lost bronze cousin. Silver support Blitzcrank Nautilus Braum main here. I wish I could tell you it gets better, but not really. Duo when you can, and talk your adc as much in the pregame as possible.
