More strict player reforms, and reparations to victims of bad player behaviour

So I was thinking about this after yet another player was toxic, fed and afked all within 10 minutes of a game, the current punishment for feeding/afk/trolling/toxicity isnt really...cutting it, so this is what I thought: When reporting a player, and they get punished, the lp lost by the other players should be compensated by said toxic player. Say, if a loss resulted in -20lp to each player on the team, then 80 lp should be taken from the negative player, and compensated to the players they screwed over. That way if they continue, they'll be demoted to, and stuck in iron until they change their behaviours while allowing more positive players to carry on rising in the game.

Basically every day, I get 2 feedback messages saying that my report made it so someone got a warning or whatever, sothis is a pretty often occurence. This will help separate those that want to take their frustrations out online, vs those that actually enjoy playing.

Iron players don't deserve to have the worst behaved players in the game thrown into their division, where they will proceed to both be toxic and stomp less skilled players. This is why League uses chat bans and time bans rather than LP bans. Just imagine a Diamond II player who is inclined to rage at teammates he feels aren't playing up to his level in a game with 4 Iron players on his team. Or the same player inclined to harass players he's stomping playing again 5 Iron players.

I see tons of problems with this suggestion:

  1. It makes things worse for lower ranked players who are there because of their current skill at League. As Djinn said, they will see more toxicity and have more lopsided games through playing with wrongly ranked players through no fault of their own,
  2. It encourages toxicity because it grants more tangible feedback and a potential lp boost if people can bait others into toxic behavior and report them for it.
  3. Some players would view being demoted as a reward, as they get to stomp lower ranked players. Think about how many people already use smurf accounts or do "bronze to challenger" videos just so that they can be matched with iron/bronze players. Its a bad idea to use a punishment that could be easily viewed as a reward, as it would encourage the behavior and make it more common.
  4. When toxicity punishments directly affect matchmaking, you run into a prisoner's island scenario which riot specifically wants to avoid: https://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/2017/01/ask-riot-banished-to-prisoners-island/

Any time that LP, rank, or division are affected by anything other than winning or losing games, the idea of a ladder gets completely tossed out the window. Those who can't be reformed eventually have their accounts banned, that's punishment enough without affecting the ladder or sticking them with players who don't deserve it. Being iron, bronze, silver or any rank is not a punishment, and those people in the lower ranks shouldn't be forced to deal with extra toxicity.

The fuck are you talking about? toxicity is punished all the time, constantly. Look at every single fucking post in the player behaviour board, there isn't a single instance of a player being banned for trolling and crying about it. Every. Single. Post. is about people who were angry in chat, and got banned. And there is a post like, every fucking minute.

My fucking. "isn't cutting it" my god, the only thing that isn't cutting it is Riot's player behaviour overview. They do none, zero, community managementy or manual overview of reports. It is ENTIRELY automated. I would be surprised if there were more than 5 people who oversee the algorithm and support tickets, all together.

Trolls are the only thing not punished in this game. Good players, people who are just having bad days, are often punished. While insane levels of trolling go unchecked, and it gets worse by the month. Todsay I had 5 games in a row, all trolls, every, single, one. And the last one was so blatantly obvious, looked at their account afterward and they had dozens of games that were copy paste of my own. 100% Support games, pick Soraka or Sona, run around the map, NEVER support, just hard engage 1v2 1v3 1v5 etc. This person has done this for a long time, and has never been punished despite likely hundreds or thousands of reports from teammates.

Toxicity? it's literally the LAST thing that needs to be managed with bans or otherwise. Mute exists, people can use it, people who choose not to should not be catered to.

That’s why they need to make a toxic tier. People that are under punishment only play va others that are under punishment. If they get stuck with long queues because of it to bad. They stay in this tier until they have been cleared of punishment. Also should be normal only mode. So no ranked play while under punishment.

I agree on the other side of it too. If someone is banned for afk, intentional feeding, or otherwise trolling to purposely lose a game the other players should not lose lp for it. The winning team can keep there’s but the losing team should not be punished due to a troll. Note this does not include toxic chat, even if said chat causes a permanent ban.

Aye, if this was implemented and I was in a game I thought was lost I would just spam missing ping people until someone snapped.
