I'd just like to, for once, thank riot for listening to feedback and doing something right for a change. I guarantee this will reduce the number of punishments they hand out. Good on you Dorito.

You couldn't. You could /mute all but that doesn't prevent YOU from typing in chat. The feature he is referring to disables the chat so even you can't type in it, meaning you can't write toxic shit out of impulse.

/mute all half did. If you have someone muted, they can't see what you type.

They actually can see what you type, even if you mute them. Mute only prevents you from seeing what they type, not the other way around. Only the feature we are talking about can block others from seeing your own messages (because it doesn't let you type).

Not the specific feature he is talking about which if you do not use it you would know. If you have Allied chat muted then it also mutes your own chat. Meaning if you try to type something it gives you an error message saying you need to have allied chat turn on. That stops toxicity both ways.

You can opt out of ally chat. Preventing you from typing to team or seeing what they type.

Just like you can disable all chat, you can disable allied chat as well, preventing you from typing there and from seeing what your allies type there.

Just wondering but isn't muteall just the same thing? I know the option makes it so you can't type either but in that case those that don't want to type won't type... unless it's for those thats trying not to type but can't resist the urge to.

Well it's on automatically so you don't have to type /mute all and it does prevent people from writing toxic stuff out of impulse like you said.

I also doesn't allow you to talk to your teammates. Its a fucking blessing. :') The first ranked game I've won in a while because my teammates weren't tilting me to shit in chat and I couldn't tilt myself by raging at them.

mute all doesn't allow you to talk to your teammates either. It allows you to type, but they won't see what you type.

thing is if its a chat it is for chatting. if everyone just uses it for pings for spells and ulti cds then why is it called a chat. community is toxic but the punishment for beeing toxic heavily outweighs rewards for beeing not toxic. yes someone saying the K something something to someone should be bannable. but i shouldnt be banned for calling gragas fat or twitch a rat or fiora baguettemaster64. the bans are automated and seeing only what you say in the chat log just makes you look way worse.

first off you need to work on communicating better. Second, yea the punishment system is dogsht but at least this will somewhat curb it and it's much better than mute all.

As someone who can be toxic, i haven't turned it off even once and i started using it immediately when it was implemented (patch 9.14). It helps me when i'm about to say something toxic out of impulse, meaning i don't really think what i'm doing at that moment and the system stops me before i can type.

Not to mention it's too much work to go out of your way and enable it during a game again because you have to go top options etc. It's just easier to keep playing and forget about it.

Yah. No. Probably not. Now people will get banned for just playing the game or wanting to experiment. And everyone will just be labeled a "troll" now. So don't be surprised when you get banned for having a bad game.

I already have. New account, lvl 7 i get a 10 game chat restriction for a saying my adc is trash when she's inting all game. I'm pretty sure they've flagged my IP and hand out punishments just to troll me at this point. The punishment system is still fucking garbage but hey at least people can mute allied chatLOL
