Toxic 14 Day Ban

I would like input on this chat log because I don't think it warrants a 14-day ban for being toxic. Never been banned before. If you guys agree that it is, I will disable my chat and never type again in league. Regardless I'm going to disable chat and not speak again. I've been dealing with people who int or just leave the game and go afk but I never receive any notifications on their punishment and then this happens.

If you're looking at the things that could specifically have triggered a punishment, there are some examples in each game. I agree that there isn't a whole lot--but it's there, and it's present in all three. I'll get back to those specifics in a sec.

There's a lot of misinformation out there regarding how the system identifies toxic players. It's basically a multi-step process that begins with reports. The best way to think about it is that the total number of reports in a game don't matter as much as the number of games reported. Basically, players who get reported in a high % of their games (relative to other players) are the ones who get flagged for review. Then the system reviews the chat logs and, if it finds that the reports were justifiable, it will issue a punishment to the player's account. There are exceptions to this rule (i.e. a single game can get someone banned if it's REALLY REALLY bad) but as I understand it most of the toxicity punishments are a result of this system.

The reason I bring this up is because it's not just these three games that are involved in your punishment. Yes, you're not bad compared to some of the very angry flamers in League, but with these examples of your reported games, it's not very much fun to be in a game with you when things start to go south. That's important to keep in mind. The issue here isn't extreme toxicity; it's consistent negativity.

With that in mind, here are a couple of examples of things that could have contributed to your ban:

Game 1: Whatever the back and forth was between you and the support. Just let it go. Getting your teammate (and yourself) all upset isn't going to help anything, and it's suuuuuper annoying and frustrating for the rest of the team to have to deal with it.

Threatening with reports is considered toxic behavior. This is because it does not serve a constructive purpose within the context of the game. At best, the person you're saying it to will ignore it; at worst, it will exacerbate their toxic behavior.

This comment is passive aggressive and totally unnecessary. Say nothing, or give constructive feedback. Don't snipe at your teammates, even if they're sniping at you.

Game 2:

Again: unnecessary and negative, with a report threat. Don't give up on games so early; it's deflating to your team. Don't harp at players about mistakes; it only makes them tilt. If you want to rephrase your complaint as feedback, try something like this: "hey [support], you might want to go back bot, [adc] needs help 1v2." That way, you give them something actionable to do to help the team without making them feel defensive about their mistakes.

Unnecessary, unpleasant, negative. Tearing into a teammate. Leaving a game (you're not focused on the game if you're alt tapped to op.gg). All of this contributes to a negative environment.

Game 3

Again, laying into someone for a mistake and making threats (this time to afk) is not a good idea in a team game. If you can, give constructive feedback; if you can't, say nothing. Endlessly complaining is just really annoying and tilts your team harder. Additionally, calling for reports is, like report threats, considered toxic behavior. It doesn't help the situation (because 1 report is enough to flag a game for review; additional reports in a single game don't really do more) and can very possibly make it worse.

Like I said before, there isn't any one thing that is super bad and deserves a huge punishment by itself. I think the issue is consistent negative chat over a large number games. I know I already pointed it out, but my biggest piece of advice would be this: don't harp on mistakes. Rephrase your complaints as feedback (IMPORTANT: not sarcastic or passive aggressive feedback, but honest-to-goodness 'this is what you can do to help us' feedback), or else don't respond at all. And don't talk to anyone in your games about reports.
