I don't hate the game, I hate its playerbase.

I love outplaying my opponents, I love ranking up in the ladder and trying new thins out. I love it when Riot releases new mechanics into the game like turret plating, rift heralds and elemental dragons. I love winning a game that I bust my ass in and like taking the enemy by surprise.

What I don't like, is the community.

I can't go one game anymore, especially ranked, without someone legitimately int feeding away, someone having a pissy fit, or someone spamming "Gg" by the 3 minute mark cause someone died. I can't stand it when people bicker back and forth, trying to prove who has the bigger ballsack. I can't stand it when people literally give up so easily because they didn't get their way. I can't stand seeing just constant negativity in the game.

Like I can't even remember the last time I saw a legitimate piece of courtesy or just all around politeness from a game. Nothing like "It's ok man, we all have bad games" or "Hey nice try man, you'll get them next time". That is what disgusts me, that behavior like that is looked down upon in game because of just how toxic people are.

I shouldn't have to resort to /mute all EVERY single game, because I really wish to be able to communicate with my fucking team, but I suppose I am just asking for far too much.

Guess what, you are part of the player base.

Eleshakai11/30/2018, 8:16:18 PM8 votes

Just as a reminder, you won't see anyone say 'hey nice try man, you'll get them next time' if you /muteall, which you claim to do every game.

Hey mate, I feel ya. But we can make a change, just be positive in the game, domino effect. If one person is happy and having fun, more people will be happy and having fun.

Virtual Hug for a person I respect. Stay positive man, you are a good part of the community.

We as a community do need to change but we have the power to do it !

NaturesMayhem12/1/2018, 2:48:04 AM4 votes

Yeah, it's pretty rough. I've made posts about this, the issue here is that players refuse to move onto other games. They know they are having a poor time and not enjoying themselves, but they're addicted after years of playing and don't know what to do with themselves if they're not playing this. I speak from experience. Played since season 4, loved the game and was super hooked, played nothing but this for years straight, when the game started going downhill in my own opinion I still continued to play. I played for the few games that I managed to enjoy and just muscled through the games that I didn't which were far more common. This resulted in me becoming toxic, inting out of frustration, doing things I never would have done before and have never done in another game. I assume this is the same for a lot of others, the community would be far better and games more enjoyable if people would realize they're not enjoying this game anymore and just move on.

Something you should take into consideration is if you still like this game and if not, is it getting to you like I described. You say you love this game, but dislike the community, well the community is the game almost. Yes there's a lot to this game besides the players, but when you play, you have to play with others and work together to win.

I quit partly because of the game as I said before, but also because having to rely upon and team with others resulted in the game being un-enjoyable. If I do really good but some lanes feed, then what's the point? I know my efforts do matter but it hardly ever felt that they mattered enough to make a difference. This was part of my consideration when I decided to quit the game because this directly effects the gameplay, so don't just ignore it as a separate matter.

The game won't be changing anytime soon or ever, the community will always be toxic, so look within yourself and ask if how much you enjoy the game itself overcomes the shortcomings of the community. If not, then I say look to another game, move on like many others, there are many others great games out that don't force you to rely upon others and deal with them being toxic. Get on steam and checkout Terraria, Hollow Knight, Subnautica, Portal, Rimworld, something cheap that you can get a lot of enjoyment out of and just compare your experience. I found myself truly enjoying myself for once when I tried those games and that opened my eyes to how miserable I was in comparison when playing league.

i agree. ive thought of that before too where "mute all" every game shouldnt be the solution. communication is a big part of the game and if someone is being annoying i will mute them and if they spam ping i will mute those too. next thing you know the whole team is muted and nobody is communicating and you lose

The thing is, most nice players just don't type so you never notice them. You only notice the guys screaming bloody murder.

HeroineSam12/1/2018, 6:18:38 PM1 votes

I agree, the community is quite scary and toxic often. Sadly, that comes with the territory. Often, players tend to value themselves based on their games (they have to be perfect), combining this with the lack of accountability for one's actions that comes with online and you get all of this that you're talking about. When one thinks games are their way of life, the only thing that gives value to their existence, they get upset and angry when things don't go their way, and since we're online, they can take it all out on other people doing whatever they please to make others feel bad for "ruining everything" for them since they don't really have to face any consequences. Being banned comes few and far between and that doesn't affect them personally or cause them to change anything about themselves since they don't have to. They wait while their ban ticks down and take their gaming somewhere else. It's a hard, toxic cycle that's difficult to change since this behavior is institutionalized and normalized so it becomes a part of the status quo, the society, here. And once it gets there, it's extremely difficult to change and will take a while to change. These are my thoughts and observations on all of this in lieu of the social courses I'm taking as well as the obvious patterns that pop up. I hope it doesn't miss the mark, but this is what I've experienced and think about it. Hopefully it gets better, but it'll take action to change it and change comes gradually.

I'll be honest with you op - this game is full of losers, so just /muteall and play your heart out. Those people are either soft mentally or should just play Mario Cart instead.

<3. Take care, homie.

how can i believe the rest of your post if you love lying, you're saying EVERY SINGLE game you play there's someone running it down the lane and suiciding on purpose to lose the game ? because the odds of you having someone in every game doing that are unbelievably low

its not about the player base, its human culture. thank you tyler1 btw.

I've never had a problem with a "playerbase"

In fact, one of my favorite parts of video games is responding to flame with flame

Responding to teabagging with teabagging

etc.

ggigotfed1/5/2019, 3:37:16 PM1 votes

You're asking for way too much.

But the game is everything you want, if you're low rank. When I started up on my lv 30 account doing ranked I was placed into iron 4. 9w1L iron 4. Nobody really talked but around bronze/silver everyone was doing crazy shit and being kind to eachother, even the feeding enemies were saying "damn gg" and having a great time.

I never wanted to leave bronze, but I also want a second diamond account. So I must leave the beautiful human beings of bronze. And now suffer in gold, even though I get no reward for ranking up at the moment. Except raising my mmr for next season.

Vaylin1/9/2019, 11:31:47 PM1 votes

This is just a thought, but have you maybe tried being the person that says to your inting teammates, "it's ok man, we all have bad games."

If not, it's worth a try.

I hate his game mostly because of the player base too. There are some incredibly rude little shits online these days and if their parents aren't going to teach them some manners, then fuck, I don't have a problem with people ruining their ranked games. After all, it is just a bloody game.

If you can't take it when someone says GG at 3 mins then you shouldn't play competitive games.

TonyTonyMordecai12/1/2018, 3:22:32 AM1 votes

Yeah, I remember doing the "cheerleader" role one game as Rakan when our pre-rework Evelynn was being just... rude for no reason. I was being nice and supportive to the rest of our teammates, because honestly, we weren't doing too bad, we just weren't really getting a cut of the gold from the kills Eve was getting (she snuck around behind the turrets and it was really hard to get any assists).

But now I just play norms so I can play things I want to have fun with, like Teemo and Graves bot. I just want to have fun with things and figure out what works and what doesn't. It sucks to be yelled at, and it sucks to hear it.

Steinick12/1/2018, 6:15:04 AM1 votes

The worst is when you get a super toxic trolly player who then does the /all REPORT X

Illabethe12/1/2018, 6:27:53 AM1 votes

For what it's worth:

GG at 3 minute spammers aren't necessarily wrong, nor "giving up."

I personally say GG all the time. But the meaning isn't that I will EVER surrender (I never surrender) nor start playing in a way to sabotage the game.

Nah. I'm just "probably" Asberger's (Son is highly functioning autistic, and I've always had some relative social awkwardness, along with an all encompassing intelligence. It's likely.)

And..... I have played enough games to calculate gold values without seeing them per person in rewards, what power spikes happen when due to what my team does, and I can generally read a player on my team within 5 minutes, as to their core competencies and how that will translate into late game/mid game play. I see the math. I see the patterns. I know the champions. I know which champions who gain what shutdowns gain what opportunities and what opportunities deprived to my team because of it.

So when I say ... "GG" ...... I generally mean the math statistically has us at a loss, usually greater than 85% probability.

That doesn't mean I give up. I do gamble on that 15% or less probability of a win, and sometimes it pans out. But that doesn't make seeing the future any less stressful for the other 85%.

Keep in mind you are a member of the community thus implying that on some level you also hate yourself otherwise you would find another game to play where you don't suffer.

I feel this pretty hard. Just two games ago I had a Leona who decided to harass me the entire game of ARAM mind you. Of course there was also that guy on our team who likes to a fan the flames that will always say "you both legit suck" instead of taking the side of reason. I asked the enemy to report her, "nah" "kk ill report you". Then Leona starting to just int. After game she said "I hope your mom died". Only then did one person actually say they'd report her.

I have thick skin from playing this game for so long. You get used to it but you'd think will how common this kind of shit is that other players would DEFEND others instead of this primal victim-shaming that has always been the real League meta.
