I've been pretty toxic lately... I've become what I hate.

Hey,

Since I started, I've tried to be a positive member of this community. I know I love it when I'm paired with friendly people, and so I've strived to be more friendly myself. Going beyond a simple "glhf" and "ggwp", I try to congratulate players on plays and be forgiving to feeders. However, lately I feel like I've been less and less effective at this. I feel like I've cursed more frequently in chat, been pretty harsh to feeders, and just overall been pretty toxic. I've had a bunch of rough matches lately, and It's completely tilted me and overall I feel super bad about everything. I have no clue what my chat logs would look like to a Riot employee, but I doubt y'all are happy with them. I'm sorry, and I'm super self conscious about my behavior lately.

You either die a hero or live long enough to become a villain

Hey, you are not alone. Pre season is always rough - for diamonds and plat streamers as well as for lower ranked players like me. Last year I got put in bronze after finishing silver 3 or 2 the year before and had to climb back. Recognizing this mentality in yourself and wanting to change it is a good thing.

Good for you -- recognizing this in yourself. I am in the same boat. I try to be nice and forgiving, but there is also a certain point where teammates need to just learn and adapt too. An 0/5/0 combined score bot lane shouldn't be trying to force 2v2 fights, they should be sitting back farming as safely as possible. Missing 1/3 the cs in lane but getting the xp is more beneficial than dying another 8 times in lane to get that extra cs -- which they ironically miss more of because they died again. Matchmaking needs to be more balanced -- you shouldn't have teammates going 0/10/0 in laning alone. If you are smart enough to not force 2v5's vs fed enemies, your teammates should be that smart too. Have teammates with no concept of that while you do means the matchmaking did a REALLY bad job of giving you a fair game. Nicely communicating with teammates to NOT do exactly that (2v5 and stuff like that) either gets them all cursing/salty at you or at best they just IGNORE your advice and continue throwing away any chance to come back. You have a RIGHT to be upset by stuff like that if that is why you are losing. Your frustration in such a case isn't even with your teammates half as much as it is that you shouldn't be in the same match as them. I appreciate hearing there are others out there like me facing this and TRYING to be as civil as they can -- even if we often fail. I can only HOPE Riot fixes matchmaking to give us both a fighting chance to win more than 5% of our games. Hang in there and try to add people (opponents or teammates) as friends if they were decent and non-toxic. Did you play this last season? If so, what rank did you reach?

Cursing in itself is acceptable. Cursing while harassing someone else is not. Curse if you need to blow some steam, just don't direct it at anyone.

If I feel like I'm getting a bit toxic, or am severely tilted from the last game, I'll stop playing League for a bit. Chill, read a book, scroll through the M/G boards, that kinda thing.

I took a look at your profile and noticed you don't really play any characters that are fun. Just stuff like Annie and Morgana.

Try playing Bard support a few games and learn the level 1 thunderlords proc ignite counter jungling gank from a video or a guide.

All the stuff you play is good for gaining ELO but it isn't fun.
