Have Players Been Acting Worse Recently?

I think it's because of Winter break for most schools - and I didn't think of it before now, really - but I have noticed a massive increase in troll players this last week or so divided between several game modes. People competing to catch the most snowballs in Poro King, Someone going "Offensive Soraka" in ARAM and refusing to put even a single point into her w (admitting that they knew how to play the champion, it wasn't a player new to her), another in Blind Pick choosing Yummi when bottom was already called, filled, and agreed on by the rest of the team and the player forcing a trio bot - refusing to change lanes, refusing to communicate with the team until we started discussing ff'ing at 20 so that she couldn't block the vote (which she would have), and proceeded to tell us that it wasn't a big deal despite nobody being able to enjoy the game. Toxic players in TFT snapping at others for their builds. 1/11 Teemo jungles with 6 kill participation not using their mushrooms, junglers refusing to gank and then flaming the team in draft. People with no vision score. Players forcing others out of the lanes they called.

I understand if it's a player just learning the game, but a lot of these players are doing these things solely to make others have a worse experience on their time off, and it's a little frustrating that Riot isn't exactly doing a ton to deflect and punish this kind of behavior- though I know it'd be incredibly hard to do so.

If possible, I'd recommend not playing for a few weeks, or just expect that there will be a troll in your game if you don't have a full party. I'd utilize the windows gaming thing and search for players to party up with you and your buddies, or take the opportunity to add some players that made your experience a little more bearable this week to your team. I hope I'm an outlier with this situation, but regardless, good luck in your games and I hope whoever's reading this gets a lovely well-rounded or at least fun team to play with.

Happy Holidays!

pre-season so yes. idk if its true but many people seem to think pre season means they can go full troll mode without being punished. if only they knew the chance of being punished for trolling is so small, this has nothing to do with preseason

Absolutely. I haven't played this game in a long time (after being a player since like season 2 or 3ish, and I came back to try it out. Played for all of 3 days, got tired of every game having hyper-toxic people, trollers, int'ers, I quit after 3 days and haven't been back sense. Maybe I'll try again after pre-season.

Pre-season is actual, literal hell.

Pre-season, easily avoidable ifs if you never type or obv int, never undoing permabans, throw away accounts that only cost 5-10 dollars, it is indeed rough out there till school starts back up and real rank is back up..

Preseason, Winter Break, The "Christmas Spirit" - yeah that's all happening at one time. Expect worse games than usual. Just saying.

I see people all the time asking for more options to report people for things they don't like. I feel if the community right now had their way literally no one would escape the ban hammer.
