League of Legends Toxic Community

Everyone has always known League has had an extremely toxic community, but that isn't riots fault, or is it? There's a tribunal in place to punish people, but not for being toxic. Verbal abuse is the closest thing to it, and nobody gets in trouble for this. I have personally tested it, trying to get banned for "verbal abuse." I don't think its possible. I think that option is there to make people feel like they are getting that toxic person banned, as well as trying to prevent it in the first place. Imagine what this game would be like without all those toxic players. It would be pretty great. All riot would need to do is enforce their rules, and actually give bans to those who are over the top toxic. Now I don't mean huge bans, but have an exponential system that makes the ban length increase each time you get banned for it. It would probably even help those being banned, giving them a chance to cool off before entering another toxic game.

i have to disagree majority of the perma bans are handed out based on what is said in game... verbal abuse a vague term and could mean alot of things... including talking shit... vulgar language... sexist language... any form of hate speech against any group of people . offensive words... calling people bad , noobs, trolls , flaming in any way or proceeding to cause a toxic environment through the use of chat

yes they do have sub divisions to report some of those for specifically but that is just an extension of verbal abuse...

and they do have a system that provides 10 game chat restriction for those who get a lil abusive and maybe had a bad day... 25 chat restriction for an offense that would be consider worst then a typical verbal abuse and then 2 week ban and perma ban

and if riot deems it is worthy they can skip any part of that system and go to one they seem fits the crime which includes a perma ban right away

and those all have time frames people can cool off and not say verbally abusive things and not to be toxic but even with the punishment they take no responsibility for their actions and say its every one else's fault for them acting the way they did and blame riot for being unfair and creating a toxic environment when they are punished... you see the post all the time...

it comes down to immaturity in all honesty

the only true way to rid the game of verbal abuse is to remove chat from the game ... no chat feature then you cant say anything to any one therefore no one is flamed or verbally abused, insulted, threaten , told to kill themselves etc

There hasn't really been a Tribunal in a long time, like 3 or 4 years I think. Sure, the community is toxic; on par with the Call of Duty community, if not more toxic than the Call of Duty community.

A lot of people in this community is toxic, and while I'm normally optimistic, I'm leaning more towards a 90/10 being toxic at least a couple of times in their career here, while the consistent toxic population is ranging around 60% toxic, 40% non-toxic.

So far, from what I've seen, Riot tries to enforce the rules without being complete totalitarians about it. It's great that they're giving everyone their freedom of speech to an extent, but there are some cases where they should step in. So far, I think Riot is doing an alright job, but they do need to be a bit more transparent about it imo.
