It's ok to be toxic as long as you're smart and bend the rules instead of breaking them
TLDR It's ok to be toxic in a passive-aggressive way. Your teammates wont be bothered by it and report you because they're not on the receiving end, and no swear words were thrown. And if you enjoy getting the worst out of people and getting them banned, then more win for you.
My point is: we need a new category under which to report someone: instigator. Think of this thread as a feature request. As it is right now, you can not report someone for instigating
Summary This is a rant about the current reporting system and the abusive passive-aggressive players that get people banned just because they're hot tempered. If this triggers you, move on.
Background
- I got a 15-day suspension at first for flaming (really really bad flaming) a player that was just saying things like I'm bad, I should go afk, etc. I understood, shouldn't have been that toxic even if I wasn't the one starting the fight.
- I got perma-banned 2 days ago for this conversation (find it at the bottom of the post) where a lee sin player started saying on all chat that I was bad (he didn't use any insults)
My Thoughts Alright, fair enough, I can see the usefulness of this level of strictness in the grand scheme of things, so I'm not arguing against my perma-ban. Yes, a bit harsh, yes, I lost money for all the skins that I bought. But it's needed.
One thing I do have to say is, if the person instigating this (the lee sin in this case) did not receive a punishment as well, then currently the way the system works is it encourages people that get a kick out of getting people banned to just be passive aggressive without using any swear words just to incite.
I'm not a toxic player unless someone triggers me in the exact way these two players have, by making toxic comments without using insulting words that would flag them. Otherwise I'm actually a nice guy. Now, I'm not arguing the ban should be lifted, not anymore, because I see Riot's point of view and it makes sense to be the way it is.
What I am saying is passive-aggressive behaviour like this should be punished as well. It is more toxic than actually using swear words/insults. That player ruined the game for me before I threw any insults, yet he continues to play unhindered and spread his passive-aggressive toxicity, probably getting other nice but more hot-tempered people banned.
You know the passive-aggressive behaviour I'm talking about, I'm sure. I worked in an office corporation, maybe some of you work in one as well. We all have/had those passive-aggressive colleagues that bend the rules just slightly to push you over the edge of your patience and antagonize you.
Yes, me falling for it and losing my composure is my mistake. I'm working on this side of myself to improve myself as a person. Those players not getting punished for instigating just sends the message that it's ok to be toxic as long as you only bend the rules, and not break them.
