If that's the only way you can avoid being toxic, then yes. Most of my solo games I use pings most of the time anyway

Context matters. Obviously the chat feature exists, and using it responsibly is a great way to win games. However, under the circumstances that a player can't seem to help but abuse the chat feature, then yes the best advice would be to mute everyone in the game, because it would be a net benefit to that player's teammates--he can't communicate via text, but he also won't distract or demoralize his team through toxic chat and abuse.

i started doing this.. i disabled all chat and mute the first time someone even seems toxic.. been climbing elo steadily.

It honestly depends on the circumstances and your own personal judgement to decide when and why you should mute / unmute a player
