Shoutout to the unsung heroes

So I've seen a lot of posts on here about supports getting flamed.

As a jungle main I Laughed so hard! And then I thought about all the supports that served as a stepping stone in my path to greatness and realized that; like a janitor at a bar in Cozumel on spring break; support players deal with a lot of "stuff" and get no recognition.

So here is a shout out to all the volunteer babysitters who spend their free time still cleaning up the messes of other people. Thank you for what you do!

to keep this from turning into a wall of Text I'll share my story in the comments below.

I also want to I encourage everyone who stops by to leave a shout out or a story about a support player that has made an impact in the way you play league.

I main support.

This story will be a roller coaster of emotions.

TL;DR: Adc kept feeding. Me volibear. I cleanup, me 8/0, luc 0/6. Jg notices, asks if he can come get some. I stop taking ANY kills, start biting slightly lower than half so not to kill them. Fed my yi jg. Yi jg carried us. Yi told me that if he didn't get those kills earlier, he would not have been able to steamroll.

I main support and to be fair i dont really see the toxicity from other roles. Granted i mainly play Normals so im sure most people just dont take it too seriously, but still in some cases ill see it happen to other roles and its terrible to see for anyone!

First off y'all should know when I tilt I tilt hard.

That being said I have a friend I play with who chooses to main support. a role that in a good game is totally disregarded. However in a bad game it can make or break a team.

I say that to say this. There have been so many games where I choked up in the jungle and tilted. I am talking gg @ 10 minutes, spam surrender vote, buy 6 pairs of boots and build a ward wall around my fountain tilted.

However he still manages to ward both sides of jungle, hold bot lane together until a carry emerges, and then rally the team for objectives. While the entire time I'm screaming in his ear about the top that didn't follow up on my level 2 invade.

You sir are a true Saint.

As a support player, I have made a big impact in the way I play the game by playing "support". All the cs is mine. All the kills are mine. Sightstone is a myth, I don't think it's a real item.

My motto is Carry and/or feed trying.

Im a Bronze support main who, despite my best efforts to keep the advantage on my team's side, I tend to see more losses than wins. I'm matched with poor allies based on my MMR, and great opponents based on my skill level, so because of the former I can't really climb

As the support, it makes me seem like I'm a squishy target that can be one shotted. sometimes that's not the case and I've led the enemy on chases from my base all the way to their nexxus in a desperate attempt to end my life.

It's only after that epic chase my team realized that the life of one support is worth about...3 towers and one inhib. (took botlane as I led the sheep)

Best part, I was warding that entire chase and covered midlane which gave my team the heads up trouble might come their way. a flash over their wall, and a mad rush to drop my last ward before going 1v2 on the towers and denying the kill gold.

it was beautiful, the splitpushers recalled and the enemy was quite unpleasant they been snookered so easily...

(we lost that game, but it was glorious)

I'm a newer L30, and a Support main. I can tell you that playing the Unranked games to get ranked have been utterly painful. Riddled with abusive players, abusive language, and poor sportsmanship. As the Support, I'm fully wiling to accept any and all abuse for losing so that it doesn't tilt others, but it seems that nothing I can do will ever be able to help. The end result is 1-8 currently, and I fully expect to go 1-9 when I finish them and likely never, ever return. 7 out of my 9 ranked games so far had team infighting during Champion Select that carried into the game. This tells me that the player base simply sucks.

I've studied and learned as much about the role as I can in a short time, but I can already understand why nobody likes Support. I just want to help because I know I can't carry anything, but there is no helping out there. I do not even want to attempt my 10th ranked game, rewards be damned. The abuse just isn't worth it.

With that said, thank you for being the only person that ever thanked a Support player. It's nice to know that at least one person understands how much it freaking sucks.
