Leaver Buster's Problem

Leaver Buster is pretty effective, although the concept for it seems pretty unfair for players who rarely leave games and still get punished for it. Usually when I "leave" a game, it's because my internet cuts short or something serious has come up and I need to attend to it immediately (myself leaving a game doesn't happen often anyways). Even when a few weeks go by, the timer tends to stack. From the first time it's 5 minutes, from the second time it's 10 minutes, but now it's 20 minutes per game for 5 whole games (or in other words A LOT OF TIME) over the span of 5 months has Leaver Buster penalized me 3 times. Keeping in mind that this doesn't happen too often. There needs to be a refresh time so this timer doesn't keep stacking to the point where I'm worried that I'll get banned over something so unbelievable. Possibly a refresh every 3 months? Just something that's more fair than this. I need a moderator or administrator to see this so I can know if it'll change or not and why. Please. Thank you.

That does exist, though we don't know the exact timing of it. The system has built-in forgiveness for occasional disconnects/leaves, to allow for power/network outages, emergencies, etc. Emphasis on the word occasional. Every few weeks really isn't occasional...

First, 20 minutes is currently the maximum punishment given by Leaverbuster, and I haven't heard of any specific cases where someone was temporarily banned for leaving.

With that said, Leaverbuster punishments do decrease over time. However, they don't decrease over a set period of real world time, they decrease when you play a certain amount of games without leaving/disconnecting/going AFK. The amount of games needed to decrease the time punishment is unknown, however, it certainly is a lot of games. When you do get in better standing with Leaverbuster, you will receive a message in the client about it.

Leaverbuster gives slack to everyone for occasional issues. If you are at 20 min leaverbuster that means you are leaving way too often. That is way past occasional issue, that is chronic leaver status. The punishments also already do reduce when you play enough games without leaving(there is a popup when it happens). You need to figure out a way to leave fewer games.
