Community seems to be getting more toxic again

Toxic players is nothing new to the game but it seems like its gotten really bad over the last few months. Out of my last 10 games i have had 3 games with afks (2 rage quits) 3 games in witch Racial slurs are being thrown around, and only 4 normal games. I love this game and its getting to the point were i cant even play it anymore. The idea that you can just ignore the toxic players and focus on playing is nice in idea but does not fix the problem when its every game. I don't know what riot can do anymore if the player base just wants to be that toxic.

I think you might be right. I've only been playing since May, but people seemed nicer back then. In the past two weeks alone, I've seen 15 Afk's, and had a match with two people who used the n-word and the f-slur.

I would guess it is related to the closing of this season, but I have no empirical proof. The closer we are to the final date, the more frustrated and angry climbers can get, I guess.

Every game I play now seems to have an incredibly toxic player. I remember when it was RARE to see a toxic player. Dynamic queue seemed to cure a lot of the toxicity from back in the day, but now I see people who simply don't care and it's just sad. My last game specifically, I watched as my teammates continuously were positive (it was such a relief to have these guys in my game, instead of the trash talk types) towards this player and suggested he play safe after dying 3 times in 5 minutes. He replies "Fine. We need to lose." He proceeded to feed the enemy lane opponent 11 kills before stealing everything in our jungle. He refused to communicate. But what REALLY sent me over the edge was the toxicity of the enemy team. The champion who was graced with 14 free kills claimed he was awesome, god-like, and this happens frequently against him. He rubbed it in the rest of the match. The rest of their team just laughed it off and claimed our guy was having a bad game. After we asked them to report our troll, they said "No way! But you can report if you want." (Keep in mind our guy admitted to trolling and wanting to lose.) So over half of the 10 players I would consider toxic. All-chat was full of red text claiming my team was horrible, a bunch of sorry losers, whiners and criers.

And this is just one example. Believe me, I have many. This community is getting worse by the day I feel and it really discourages me from playing. I've never posted on the forum before which should tell you something. Riot's "mute and report" theory does me no good. Unless I can CLEARLY see the results, it does me no good. I agree with an earlier post saying their punishment isn't severe enough. And I'm sick of the "trolls will be trolls" answer. I do have faith, though, that the world will balance out. I believe that most people who get online to ruin the experience of a competitive game for others are just doing so because their life sucks and they want to bring others down.

I'm at the point now where I want to log into a match and mute everyone instantly, and unfortunately that takes away from my experience. I have no solutions, I'd just suggest that Riot commit more manpower to over-seeing the community and strengthening the punishment. Is it sad that I don't expect that to happen? My patience with this game is running out.

I think a part of the problem is that we've heard very little from Riot about player behaviour in recent months. Lyte used to be the one who would come on the boards or write articles about player behaviour, and show that Riot are actually working in that area. Since he left, things on the player behaviour from have unfortunately been very quiet.

Well, you can always report if they're being toxic :) That helps Riot when it comes to punishing toxic players who repeatedly do this.

But obviously they can't do too much if people refuse to report.

As for the community: I don't think it's as bad as it used to be. I don't get many toxic players, maybe 1 every now and then. And when I do I just report and move on.

If you feel you're encountering too many toxic players, perhaps try playing with friends? Less of a chance of getting a toxic players, and can sometimes make the game enjoyable since you're playing with likeminded players :)
