So was grinding up a new account. And actually had a new player. I mean TOTALLY new. Didnt even know what "Farming minions meant" and kept calling Evelynn "Cool purple lady" I was patient, freindly, and just trying to explain what abilities do, the difference between ashe and evelynn (Marksman vs assassin), etc.

So I decide to take a more support yi and help the genuinely new player, Explaining things like how her abilities work, how to kite, what farming minions mean, etc. But half way into the game, our Jungler Vi decided to chime in and instruct Ashe "You see that box above yi? (me), click it. It will silence him"

Me: You are instructing a new player on how to mute me when I am trying to actually HELP her. Vi: "Yes" Me: why" Vi: "You talk too much"

Yeah, This vi is instructing the new player to mute the veteran helping explain what minion farm is, how her abilities work, when to back, etc. this is why Veterans stop giving assistance to new players. Oh well, no good deed goes unpunished. In this case trying to mentor a new player means they should mute me for "Talking too much

This has happened before when I was playing a game with a NEW (completely new) sona and Veigar. Didnt know how to ping, how the commands work, etc. So I went out of my way to explain how they work and generally tried to mentor the new players. For my effort I get told to "stfu" by our Lee Sin who "already know this shit". Yeah he was mad at me explaining things to NEW PLAYERS that HE already knew. So just because he already knew how to ping, I am not allowed to help new players because X player already knows Y information.

There is no mentor program or anything for new players. So people often try and help out of the goodness of thier heart, and yet this community is so wrapped up in themselves they will call to shut up anyone helping new players. Well guess its my fault for trying to help genuinely new players before they can be corrupted and turned into the narcissistic fuckwads that this community has become. Oh well. as I said No good deed.....

Thing is people go through normals and into ranked without knowing some simple information that only comes from playing. You would be surprised i have told diamond players that if they last hit a ward im sweeping that we both get gold and hearing back "i never knew that, i always just let who ever sweep it take it" Hell i had a ranked game where i had to explain to a plat 1 smurf that blitzcrank can pull someone into her traps and the trap would activate.

I have had to tell people how to farm under tower, how the damage works out between towers and minions all because people don't get told these things or given the chance to actually learn these things without actively trying to find a video on how to do it.

Your intentions are good and the people telling you to shut up are assholes, but you might also consider that you didn't need anyone to teach you the game, and all of those basics you were trying to teach are taught during the 3 tutorial stages, which those new players had to have purposely ignored.

All things considered, all it usually takes to get good at LoL is experience. And chatting a lot in general is considered annoying to many people since it distracts both them and yourself from the game.
