Chat Ban - Most Toxic Players in LoL
There's an abundance of one particular type of player. I think these are the most toxic players because they cause others around them to become toxic.
It's the type of player that if you die, or do something that they dont like, they immediately go into the /all chat and type something like "this Morgana..." or "my team is garbage! I cant carry these losers." It's like, calm down. You're Zed and your opponent is Teemo. You got lucky with the matchup and suddenly you think you belong in diamond.
I would also like to make it clear right now:
- I never flame anyone for a mistake.
- I never get upset if my team is losing.
- I never others because the responsibility is on me just as much.
Maybe in my head but never in the game.
My problem is that I just can't help myself when a(usually bad) player just starts flaming me out of nowhere. It makes me just not want to play any more and I don't even care if we win.
I'll give you a scenario:
I'm Blitz support with adc Miss Fortune and it's early laning phase. Ive landed about 5 hooks which MF failed to take advantage of. But hey, it could be my fault. Maybe I'm not hooking at the right place or at the right time.
Some time goes by and 2 more hooks has given MF 2 kills and we are ahead.
Then the enemy JG, ganks MF twice in a row even though there was a ward...and then it starts.
Miss Fortune: /all this Blitz is crap
So yes, I do say things back. I go out of my way not to be a toxic person and I never start any fight or argument, but I can't help it when someone else keeps chatting crap about me.
And now I have a chat ban. In the logs that they show, Riot completely ignores what what happening to me and went straight to my retaliation. Which by the way contained no profanities or anything offensive other than about the way MF plays.
The MF even added me to friends afterwards to laugh about it to me, which is also pretty sad and pathetic.
Okay, so fine. Maybe I deserve a chat restriction. It's not like didn't do what they said I did.
But the point that I'm reiterating is that anyone can be a toxic player if pushed too far. But Riot should be targeting those players that cause the rest to become "toxic" as opposed to targeting everyone.
If you're being cordial and some jerk comes and punches you in the face, then you punch him back and a fight breaks out, should the cops really arrest and charge both of you? Even worse, should they just arrest and charge you?
That's all I'm saying. These players are the ones that bring the whole LOL community down.
Thanks for reading, gg
Edit: I'm not actually banned from Chat, just restricted for 10 games. My point was meant to be less about me being penalised and more about bringing attention to the fact that many "toxic" players are not trouble makers but are civil players who have the built in disposition to retaliate to a truly toxic player.
Think about relatively new players to LoL. They don't immediately know about all the things they should do when someone is being toxic towards them. It pushes people away fromt the game. My gf never says anything in chat but she quit playing because she wasn't having fun with people being jerks when she was learning. She didn't know about muting, nor would she want to continue playing with jerks even after muting them.
My other friend is an architect with very little time to play. He plays very casually and doesnt know all the politics of the community. When someone just starts flaming him out of nowhere, he just disconnects and goes back to work, and that freaking sucks and it's annoying. He doesn't play enough or afk enough to ever get penalised. I've told him about this and he said he doesn't care because he doesn't have 40 mins to waste, and this sucks because I hate AFKers but at the same time I understand. It's another example of otherwise decent people being made to be toxic.
People just say press the mute button and I get it. Yes, I should just press mute. But it can be difficult for many people to get berrated by someone else in the chat(especially a bad player taking it out on you) without trying to defend themeselves. I don't think telling millions of players to just mute others is a good long term solution. There should be like a category for people who start a game down the path of flaming and usually causing the team to lose as a result.
