I need an answer (AFK IN RANKED)

I was recently in a ranked game as poppy, just playing league. When my mid (zed) went afk. Later my jungler (graves) also went afk. We of course lost the game before 20 minutes as there was no way that we could ever win. But what made me extremely sad was the fact that i still lost 20 LP for that game, even though there was nothing I could do to "carry my team".

I think that when playing with an afk the teamates should not lose LP for losing that game. You might say that this could be abused by 1 person leaving so that his premades don't lose LP. To counteract this problem the AFK should lose twice or 3 times as much LP as he would have done with a normal loss.

The loss prevented is already a thing in league. However it seems weird to me that we don't always get it when we have an afk. For normals I don't care if we lose if they just get bannen. But in ranked it is sad to lose LP for something that you have no control over.

If somebody from riot could tell me why this is not in the game I would be extremely happy, thanks for reading.

If you disagree please explain why you do as i might be able to explain to elaborate my idea.

Unfortunately, such a system could be abused - if a game is going poorly, one "fall guy" on the team agrees to disconnect to save everyone else's LP.

On the other hand, I have for a long time been of the opinion that if one player fails to connect to the game during the loading screen, the game should be aborted rather than just starting a game that is 4v5 from the very start. I had several games like that yesterday in Ranked - I think the servers were having some sort of issue.

I love this idea and don't think it would be abused. Even with a premade group of 5... if they systematically take turns going AFK to prevent a loss, they obviously care a great deal about their status in League... which is why such people would NEVER go AFK systematically, as it's easily detected and doesn't take long to be punished harshly.

The problem is people will create and or have alt accounts that they will queue up with and if they start to lose they will obviously pull the plug to help boost their friend.

The solution to prevent exploiting is a two part thing.

  1. If you group queue into a game and someone from your queue party goes AFK, and your team loses, your entire party should receive an LP loss with an increase. Like 1.5x what it would of been. This would prevent people from exploiting this to boost one another.

  2. Then you still have the question of people "taking one for the team" So you would need to create a system that would again increase the LP punishment. Maybe 2x what it would otherwise be. Enough that no one would want to bite the bullet for the team. The LP loss plus the queue penelty should be enough to deter this from being something that happens.

The honest truth is Riot will never introduce something like this. They don't have to. We are all still here playing and spending money. While it certainly is broken, we are all still jumping in the boat.
