INNOVATIVE ways to REDUCE the toxicity.

This is just some insight as to a few more punishments which could significantly reduce repeated offenders who receive chat/time bans on their accounts:

Along with the chat restriction:

  1. Wipe their Influence Points to 0. This is a great incentive for players with progressive goals to NOT act like savages. If they want new runes or champs via IP, they must start from scratch, or play nice.

  2. Influence point restriction included. Summoners may not EARN influence points until they've completed the necessary mandated amount of restricted games. This correlates well with option 1, in that players will be wiped clean and then also restricted for their 10/25/30 game restriction.

Players who are goal-oriented and care about the game won't be acting up, and the players who DO misbehave are forced to take a much better look at the big picture when it comes to progression in this game.

I propose ideas that wouldnt effect the monetary income of Riot, out of respect for their business.

If someone is uber toxic and gets their IP wiped and restricted and decides "eff this game im not playing anymore" then that literally weens out the bad vibes in league that much more.

These are two ideas that ERADICATE trolls and toxicity, without disturbing the popultion of dedicated, loving players.

Thanks for reading, please comment your thoughts or tweaks to this if you have any suggestions!

Imagine a system where you can potentially be so well-behaved that you earn vouchers for % off your next purchase, or a flat rate of discount of IP prices due to having a pristine record of good behavior. Even the slightest anything would incentivize this system.

Riot encourages toxicity. Nobody is looking between the lines here. They are even happier to ban people so quickly.

Do you really know WHY riot changed the EXP it took to 30? Do you really believe what they said about it? Smart people don't. It is too obvious that Riot has been perma banning people pretty quickly this season and COINCIDENTALLY made EXP to 30 by half. It's a business decision on their part. They know that a high % of people who get perma banned will make a new account and MOST likely buy boosts/champs/skins all over again. Do you guys really not see this?

You may ask why RIOT doesn't double the EXP it took to 30? Well then that will get them to lose money compared to halving the exp. I really would think that doubling the EXP to 30 would discourage toxicity...I mean...who really wants to spend weeks/months leveling up again. People will think TWICE about their behavior.

They careless about newbies. New people don't even care to rush to 30. Only people that do this are smurfs so they can jump into ranked. New people don't even know much about Ranked or even the game play.

This entire process was to benefit from toxic people and increase their revenue. It takes 3 days to hit 30 if you play a lot of hours during those 3 days. You can start on Friday and hit 30 by Sunday night. But exp boosts and an ip boost and boom, new account, new MMR, ready to go for ranked. That's just 20 bucks! That's not including people who dont mind spending extra on their MAIN champs and possibly skins.

They say they wanna 'cater' to new players. Don't believe that bullshit.

I've met a LOT of new players to LoL...none of them give a damn about leveling up, runes or ranked. They have fun trying new champs and playing and learning and getting to know the game.

I agree with this. however if riot had a more effective report system this might work, with what we currently have this not only would not work but would possibly punish innocent players being dogpiled by reports via trolls and such.

I'm not saying it happens all the time but plenty of time I've seen troll premades dogpiling someone with reports for simply not playing the game how they want them to.

I understand the intention, but honestly I think it would make people more likely to quit than reform. Who wants to grind 25 games just to continue grinding for the champion you want? I understand some people are just too determined to not quit, but the people that are toxic, you know, they don't really enjoy the game much.

I personally like it, great idea. Maybe more/longer chat retricts or the outright removal of chat if toxicity persists. Then if they feed after that ban them. Quicker punishments for feed/afk in addition.

Yea i think this would work - only one problem. After a certain point (maybe lvl 30) you don't really need ip. If u have your mains you can just play without problems

Or, just a wild idea, how about we actually ban people that intentionally feed while writing stuff like "we can win guys", "Im new to the game",...? Wouldnt that be cool?

I mean, I just had one of those on my team and he obviously does it a lot https://i.gyazo.com/cc47acf60ba24892ebac73f465d8cbae.png lol. He even wrote "its not the first time, nor the last time, I wont get punished anyway". So yeah.

I think something like this could work. Mainly because (from what ive seen) most toxic people are people who have been previously ban (again usually for toxic behavior) so they are still keeping that negative attitude while trying to level up a new account. If it means them basically having to work to get their IP again im all for it.

Shenmue5/16/2016, 1:19:19 PM1 votes

yeah just give the trolls more power to try to make you rage by troll picking and blantanly doing nothing reportable but not winning or try to win the game at all so you will be very tempted to curse them in chat and you get the restriction for being mad about a clear troll

Pika Fox5/16/2016, 3:27:03 PM1 votes

No. Having a punishment that impacts game currency, be it IP or RP, is not something that should be done in any videogame ever.

TrulyBland5/16/2016, 6:55:10 PM1 votes

The problem I see with this is that a lot of things that can be bought with IP, can also be bought with RP. This punishment would effectively hurt their paying customers less than their non-paying ones, and I really don't think that's a good idea.

We need to give Influence Points a literal meaning. Experience Points are a measurement of your experience in leveling through the game. That's literal. Influence points should be somewhat measured on a summoner's INFLUENCE on the game. If you are a bad influence, your influence points should be impacted. If you're a good or neutral influence, you may earn and spend them as you may.

This ensures that toxic players dont get free things for their misconduct! If they want it, they must pay for it through RP until their restriction is over

So long as Riot continues to use the 'permanent banning' system, where they falsely claim that "only 0.06% of players are permanently banned", I don't see the toxicity of League's community getting better.

Riot's done a good job of falsifying stats, especially Pendragon, but their numbers simply don't add up. It's estimated that more than 70% of League's community has been chat restricted or banned at some point.

What they need to do is throw away this Accumulative-to-Permanent banning system. It's common knowledge it doesn't work, people will just make new accounts and continue to be toxic.

Except...currently influence points are a big motivating factor to playing the game. It would be like Skyrim restricting the area you can explore, or Pokemon removing catchable monsters. Be less rewarding to play, people would just stop playing.

Actually They really just need to start punishing players who do poorly in ranked/ overhaul their ranked system/ not change the game in the middle of a season

  1. poor play in ranked: I get it everybody has a bad game, but all to often I see new champions being played in ranked, people playing while drunk or high, or people who duo with somebody who is WAY below their skill level, or playing champions they arent used to or even trying new things that they've never tested before

The only reason I ever GOT toxic (I tend to just say fuck it and try and get an S rank by farming now) IN RANKED AND RANKED ONLY was when my team was utter garbage and played like shit or didnt play like it was ranked.

If there was a simple system where if you lose to many ranked games in a row (IE you lose 5+ in a row) you go on ranked restriction and have to WIN a certain amount of normal draft games to re unlock ranked. that way they can still play league and be bad, but it wont be in ranked where being bad isnt something that should be ok

  1. they need to overhaul the ranked system in general. they need at least -Loss prevented for games with afks/leavers -more report options in ranked only IE: if somebody admits to being drunk or high you can report them for "playing a competitive game mode while not at best mind set" or something, basically they should have some type of extra rule that can get you banned/punished if you are playing ranked when you know outside life might interfere (such as time constraints or drinking) -they need to not allow new champions for the first month of release in ranked. -they need to make it so you cant play any champion that you dont have at least level 3 with. -add report options along the lines of "trying something new in ranked" ranked isnt where "new" belongs. it should be a punishable offense to practice in ranked -10 bans: one per person, its real simple. they new ban system? it just invites trolls and doesnt give enough bans out. one per person is 10 bans and that should cover it. -pre game vote/kick option: simple enough, if I ask dont ban teemo and my team bans teemo, we should have a vote/kick option -LP gain/promo series fixes: basically they need to tweak the LP gains so nobody ever ends up with 95-99 LP because winning a game for 1LP is bullshit. and winning 1 game into a series then losing two and being dropped down to 50lp after winning 5 games in a row? thats BS too.

those are just some basic things that would make ranked better, but alas we get the white knights who will say "BUT MUH ABUSE OF SYSTEM" and RIOT will never do it, even though it would be a perm ban if they abused it just once...

  1. this is this season only, but this also goes for the game in general: STOP DRASTICALLY CHANGING THINGS

TLDR because im to lazy to type: I dont want to learn a new game every season. and in the middle of one? no thanks.
