Not from the way you're describing it, but if your chat is filled with this kind of behavior it really will be a nuisance to the other players and you could be at risk of punishment eventually.

I've seen only two cases posted where a player was punished for self-deprecating chat, but it was very consistent, and Riot rolled back their punishment and told them to tone it down because it was still creating or contributing to a negative environment for the team.

its insanely subjective what you can be banned for nowadays. best bet is to just avoid chat in that case.

In my experience, you won't get punished for expressing your wit. As long as you don't go overboard (getting argumentative) and still work to do your best for the team, flippant sarcasm can't hurt you.

Yes you can, riot has covered everything, including "passive agressiveness", which apparently sarcasm "is". (Riot is bad at taking jokes, you know, also wtf is sarcasm?)

There's nothing wrong with it, I do it all the time. I remember the case DTN is talking about and that guy took it way too far. It was like the second someone said anything to him, not only did he turn it into self deprecating, but he would not drop it for the entire game. And then when told to stop, he would continue playing the victim while only insulting himself, to the point where everyone would end up reporting him because he would just keep the argument going and going. It would be over but he would keep bringing it up.

Chat restricted, banned? Maybe not. It is considered arguing, not constructive, not helping your teammates, not positive, not licking the boots of other people in the fashion Riot wants you to lick said boots.

Yes you can. In a recent game I ended up doing very badly 1/15/1. I was trying new things and really not playing my best because we had a dude instalock top and I had already dodged once or twice that day and wasn't feeling the wait. As the team accused me of feeding I sarcastically agreed to it. Day later boom my first ever Riot punishment a nice 14 day ban never mind I had never had an issue in the 3000+ games before this or after. When I asked the riot support I spoke with in chat who didn't understand sarcasm if he was a native English speaker (I mean hey sarcasm goes over plenty of native English speakers heads.) to explain the nuances he became immediately defensive and closed the chat. So I would be very careful about this.

I like to just say the word "Trash" in chat. Im not calling anyone trash, not directing it at anyone or anything that happened just "Trash" if people want to assume I meant them and associate themselves with trash that is their choice... for all they know I could be calling the enemy team trash (but to my team not in all chat).[slayer-pantheon-popcorn]

Oh I don't do it every time I'm flamed once or twice before i mute them if it escalates, for some people it seems to calm them down though, and i don't do it every game either.

I doubt you will be banned for it in most cases simply because I doubt anyone will report you for it. No report -> no IFS - > no ban. It can deal with those mild "flash of anger" cases where someone is just slight angry at you dying a lot or make stupid plays, but not overly toxic.

However, if you do it consistently, there may be times where sarcasm can inflame (feeding) the trolls to step up their toxicity because they got your attention and/or take offense to your sarcasm (not everyone appreciate receiving sarcasm even if they are not toxic).
