Bought a skin, legit next match and only match I got to play with it I got 14 day banned. Coincidence? No. Riot has on many occasions done stupid shit 10x more blatant than this but still, it's pretty stupid. Better yet I read the chat logs and can you guess what I got banned for saying? I got banned for calling people children, as they were acting like children and I said they were "stupid" exact word. Riot legit looks for ways to ban solo que players. Even if you "reformed" and molded yourself into the robot that they supposedly want you to be without any negative emotions. You will have a bad game every now and then, and when you do, you will get a "strike". Best part is: these "strikes" don't reset. Ever. Riot can't be any more blatant then they already are. If you solo que and you talk in chat, you will get banned, end of story XD. Now before you complain about terms of service or anything technical read this: YOU CAN GET PERMA BANNED ON THIS GAME FOR TALKING. Let that sink in before you try to make up some justification for Riot's shit "system" ;)

You clearly ignored the important part, let me restate: you can get banned for talking. If talking is a justifiable ban then intentional feeding and afking must deserve the death penalty.

There's a difference between normal regular talking and verbal harassment, only one of those gets you in trouble in this game.

There is a pretty thick line that defines verbal abuse/harassment. If I was cursing at them directly, being racist, using slang/slurs to offend them. That is verbal abuse/harassment. Calling them children for their actions and that they are cancer/stupid/etc. is being "mean" and people who cry about "meanies" are children. Hence, proving my point.

There's not really, there are words meant to insult and there are words that are not. There are varying degrees of verbal harassment, calling someone a child is definitely nowhere near as bad as telling someone to kill themselves, for example, but both are meant to inflict negative emotion on the recipient and thus both are considered harassment.

Well most people don't needlessly berate others in real life because they're too scared of actual consequences, it does happen though and often times is met with something physical. Since you can't get physical with someone online there has to be other methods of preventing such behavior.

Guess what? In real life if I called you a "%%%% fuckface" (ban-able in league) and you reported me to the authorities, you know what they would say? Nothing. They would laugh at you for being oversensitive and tell you to not waste their time.

You can't compare the two though, if someone said that to me in real life I could easily just deck them in the face. No one is going to report someone to the authorities unless someone says something that threatens the lives of other people, like yelling fire in a crowded building when there is no fire (which will get you arrested by the way). Since I nor anyone else can hit someone in the face over the internet there needs to be another method of dealing with such behavior.

You don't even have to go that far in League. Calling someone "bad" can get you permabanned. Imagine playing a pickup Basketball game at the park, calling someone "bad" and then having that person complain to the City about it. In Riot's World, you'd be banned from entering the park, haha.

That's true. In all seriousness though the last two games were report worthy, but not ban worthy if you had no other previous reports/punishments. It's kind of like a straw that broke the camel's back kind of situation, going by this alone I wouldn't ban you but as a whole it most likely adds to a consistent pattern of behavior which could be deserving of punishment.

Do you reflect on what you say? pattern of behavior for example. If I have the freedom to type any random string of letters in the chat, who are they to say that I can't? Rather that having frustration is intolerable? What am I supposed to say "sorry I'm angry I won't do it again"? There are serious fundamental flaws with this thought process on many levels...

Well it's Riot's chat you're using and they can make whatever rules they want to, and one of their rules is that you can't say hurtful things to other players. You accepting the terms and conditions forfeits your freedom to write whatever you want.

I can see a bit of bad attitude in the third match, but still all 3 had nothing bad enough to earn a 14 day ban and take 5$ that I had to work for.

Exactly this. Doesn't matter what a person's opinions of the rules are. Riot hasn't come onto this board asking whether we all agree with the TOS or not.

Going off the OP, I was expecting maybe once or twice in the logs the word "child" or "children," not the repeated calling of the teammates and enemy team children and kids. It's a bit patronizing, and irritating at the best case scenario. Harassment at the worst case scenario. Also, asking for reports is also considered harassment, something that a lot of people don't seem to realize. Just something to keep in mind for the future.

Words in a box should never result in a ban. But Riot has pushed their false definition of "toxicity" for years, to the point that it is now being used in that pathetic way all over gaming. I guess it's just easier to whine and ban over harmless words in a box than it is to do something about TRUE toxicity: players who through their actions or inactions affect your match negatively and often earn you a loss you don't deserve.

It doesn't matter if it's just "words in a box", verbal abuse of any kind is not tolerated here and will be punished accordingly. This is a game that we all play to have fun, and having to deal with someone whose only interested in insulting and raging at others whenever things don't go their way is not only distracting and annoying but also potentially harmful to the game as a whole, as the more time you waste thinking of how you can effectively insult people the less time you're spending on actually playing the game itself.

Also, gameplay trolls do get banned, but because the system has to be sure that they're actually clear cut trolling and not just having a bad game or two they can often just slip through the cracks and take longer to punish than verbal abusers do. Don't believe me? Well Here are two examples of gameplay trolls being banned. Yes it's just two examples, but it proves that they do get punished. Regardless though someone else acting up doesn't mean that your own poor behavior gets a free pass. If you reported them and they have a history of acting up like that then they will be punished. From Understanding the Tribunal:

4) That player in my game was far worse than me. Why am I banned??? a) I'll keep this one simple: retaliation isn't OK. Reacting to a toxic player by being toxic just incites that player to be even worse--it also ruins the game for up to 8 other players. It is far, far worse to watch two people yelling at each other all game than it is to watch 1 player ranting into blank space. Almost everyone in the game can find someone out there that behaves worse than they do--but so what? Finding someone worse doesn't justify your behavior or justify retaliation. We expect more out of our players. What players often don't realize is... those other players in your game that you thought were worse? Nearly 100% of the time, those players were banned even before you were. If someone is being toxic, just report them and move on. If you retaliate, both of you will be banned. It's really that simple.

I swear when someone gets banned they go to www.igotbanned.com (not a real website, I hope) and it gives them a random thing to whine about to justify their actions. "Wha! I got banned! Must be because they want my money!" or "Wha! I got banned! must be because they are biased!"
