Make mute visible to everyone
After years of playing league I pretty much accepted that trying to be reasonable with people who throw a tantrum is just a waste of time and energy. Not always, but like 80% of the time. So when those delusional people try everything they can to make themselves and everybody else believe that they are not in the least bit responsible for their own mistakes I mute. And for me its good enough i guess.
However, while I am doing my best to turn things around, they are really busy investing all their brainpower into convincing everybody(and themselves) that they are right. And i would rather they use their brain to make a comeback. Because as stupid as some people behave, they can usually play league at the level where matchmaking palces them. If only they would focus on the game and not do braingymnastics.
I think it would be nice if they could see when they are being muted. And even better if everyone ingame could see it. Maybe if those people see that really nobody cares for their explanations and made up facts, they could stop typing? I mean what are you gonna use the chat for when it says, player 1 2 3 4 6 7 8 9 muted player 5. Of course its possible that he still types because some of these people somehow need to convince themselves that they dont have to take responsibility for their own calls. Cause they really cant handle reality. But i believe most people could stop wasting their time and stop harrasing others if they see they are just talking to themselves.
I think a good way to fight harassment is to take away the audience and it has to be visible for the toxic people and everybody else.
Why not just say mute and then mute? i mean they can read right? Well, have you ever seen that work? man saying mute to one of these guys is like giving them a piece of chocolate, a trophy. Especially since they just assume its a lie. Many people for i dont know what reason fake mute? Somebody on your team gets flamed he says mute, and the asswipe still types an essay every 3 minutes. directed at his "victim".
I know this is not gonna be a magical solution to online harrasment, because that shit will exist aslong as you are online anonymous and dont have to fear any real life repercussions. But it might be a tiny step in the right direction.
Am I crazy or does this make sense? Im also open to hear the possible sideeffects and negative impact this idea could bring.
