Why do long term/perm bans only seem to happen to Plat+ accounts?

So.. I see people getting banned for 14 days for using the term kys in a plat game. When I see people go full throttle with racial slurs and desires to murder people in chat in bronze/silver/gold and they only ever get a mute? Why the difference in ban-hammer practice?

Please keep in mind I have never gotten a ban. I'm just curious.

Without providing links, I can assure you based on the people coming to these boards posting about their punishments that many people in Bronze-Gold also get 14 day suspensions and/or permanent suspensions.

Depends on the person's behavioral history.

Low Plat and Low Diamond along with super low Bronze are known to be super toxic pockets. People whom are toxic within those ELO tend to escalate more quickly due to the frequency they are toxic.

To put it into numbers perspective, if it takes 10 moderately toxic games to get a chat restriction (and having less and less leniancy as they go up the punishment ladder), if those Plat+ players are at their 9th game of moderate toxicity, then they suddenly start hate speeching others, the severity of the hate speed will count for like 10 games of toxicity and escalate them into a 14-day ban.

There's a little bit more that goes into the punishment formula, but that is the gist of it.

bronze silver players are usually not regulars, regular flamers are more probable to get banned.
