Riots punitive measures
I have seen people get away with the most insane amount of passive aggressive flaming I have ever seen, but people who finally tell them to shut up after getting sick of being treated horribly get punished.
But no, we have to focus on the people who say something like "shut up", because thats the REAL toxicity Not the guy who just intentionally fed after calling you a "bad player who should uninstall", no, Its the person who told that person to shut their mouth. I have genuinely had my account suspended in a game where someone repeatedly flames me for the entire game, and I tell them to shut up, most of the time, its because the other people in the game are qued, and they just abuse the report system. And ill say this, if you think saying shut up is to toxic, whilst someone is flaming you, You really dont belong playing a competitive game, like at all. I want league to be a community where you dont have to act like children, you can actually be honest with people. Acceptable forms of """"""Toxicity""""""" "Shut up" "Stop blaming team mates, you went in being a moron, you shouldnt blame others." Nonacceptable forms "Kys" "This person is a stupid piece of shit" See the difference? the first two examples are within reason to tell someone who is being unreasonable towards you But saying shit like "Kys" is a blatant way of insulting team mates in a significant way Are league players so oversensitive that "Shut up" Is to offensive for them Has league actually reached this point? Where simply telling someone to shut up should warrant punishment, or that they shouldnt act like a moron by flaming their team mates when they make a mistake.
Also, isnt permanently banning people completely redundant, 999/1000 times the person just makes another account and it continues the same exact way, do you think you change peoples human nature simply by banning them, no. All it does is piss them off even more, and to be honest, do you think someones going to be more likely to respect your rules as a company after you waste weeks, or even months of their time they spent climbing in ranked. Ofcourse theyre going to be more likely to not respect your rules. The whole idea of permanently banning people for toxicity is completely redundant, it doesnt solve the issue, what does is chat restrictions, and there have also been other ideas proposed, like a temporary ban from ranked ques, whilst being chat restricted in normal ones. Or just an ouright temporary ban from ranked ques, whilst a chat ban from normal ones, (Since normals are not competitive, and riot seems to be confident enough that pings are efficient enough to communicate for objecitves) Really, its been shown that indefinite bans are completely pointless, and do nothing to prevent riots definition of """"Toxicity"""" or real toxicity, it simply just pisses people off more.
Riots treatment of intentional feeders and trolls vs riots treatment of """"toxicity"""" I understand that sometimes its hard to tell rather or not someone intentionally fed. But come on, when you look in the chat log and the person says "K feeding" They went 2/20 and they have 6 tears of the goddesses THEY ARE FEEDING. There is literally no room for nuance to that, its literally blatantly obvious that they intended to feed, and yet ive seen people get away with this exact type of behavior, over, and over, and over. Why do you punish """"Toxicity"""" with a perm ban, something that can be easily solved by , muting someone (And I find it ironic that the same people who support riots punitive measures are the same people who would tell me to just mute people who I am "Toxic" towards when they flame me), but you ignore when people do something that ruins the game completely for others involved intentionally, or you very rarely punish people for it, even if its completely obvious beyond any reasonable doubt? I would rather have 4 toxic players on my team then one int feeder, because I can just mute all of the toxic players if it comes down to it, I cant make a person stop int feeding.
And finally Im going to address a comment I know someones going to put "dont like the game, dont play it" Youre basically saying you shouldnt criticize the decisions of a company simply because they own the game, they should still be criticized, thats how you get them to make better decisions.
Im surprised when people actually attempt to defend riots standards as a company, not just in their punitive measures, but in how they balance their game, their ability to stay objective, etc.
