When you're permanently banned, and you waste over 200 dollars on this game. Does that just get thrown away? What is this... Help. [zombie-brand-facepalm]

Does that just get thrown away?

Yes. Each piece of content in League of Legends is basically considered to be a software license; when you purchase something in the shop, you are buying the ability to use the item, not the item itself. These licenses are contingent on the purchaser following Riot's rules, and if a player consistently breaks those rules Riot has complete authority to disable that player's ability to access Riot's content.

What you bought was RP for the account. RP cannot be transferred, so when you lose that account you lose the RP remaining and anything else on it. Use it as an incentive to stick to the rules, and everybody benefits.

Yes, you lose access to your account, and therefore everything on it.

Let's say you shopped at Macy's for the last 5 years and spent $1,000 on merchandise.

If yesterday you decided to steal a watch and got caught on camera, banned from the store for life and thrown in jail - do you think there's a summoner 32 's chance in hell you'd be reimbursed the $1,000 you spent over the last 5 years as a law abiding patron?

The Terms of Service, which you agreed to follow in order to play the game, says that all sales are final and refunds are at the sole discretion of Riot. When banned from the game for bad behavior, Riot is not entitled nor required to return your money to you.

This practice is not "larceny" which is the unlawful taking and removing of someone else's property with the intent of not returning it. Buying of skins and characters are transactional sales.

It is also not "malfeasance" which is the performance by a public official of an act that is legally unjustified, harmful, or contrary to law. Riot is not a public official by any stretch of the word.
