Hate Speech vs Criticism

Harassment and hate speech should be bannable. But criticism, teasing and banter should not be. All it does is empower overly sensitive players to take out their hurt feelings on others.

Here are some examples:

BANTER: Trash talk with the enemy laner

I've had my own teammates flame, call me toxic and threaten to report me for bantering with the ENEMY laner

TEASING: making fun of someone for missing a skill shot

I've had people lose their shit and start inting for going "lol" after they miss something or die

CRITICISM: If I'm mid and the enemy mid laner is at my tower with no health, there's nothing wrong with going "Yo jungler, free kill mid come on man."

The best way for him to grow is to understand where opportunities are and what are mistakes

Banter is not toxic. If you are flaming someone (ex: calling them “idiot” and “trash” repeatedly), that is not banter, it is flaming.

Teasing is not appropriate. Banter, yes. Teasing, no.

Criticism is fine, but it should be constructive - not flaming disguised as criticism.

And unless you are doing it excessively, those examples are likely to get thrown out pending language used. Many times people decide to trash talk their own team as opposed to enemies.

The problem is that the line between harassment, criticism, teasing and banter is very foggy for lots of people and they easily mistake one thing for another and/or refuse to change their viewpoint on the line between these things.

With banter, criticism, teasing, etc. It’s fine for most people if you don’t do it every single minute, it’s when you spam the teasing and banter that most people see it as harassment. Spelling and how you phrase your messages also play a big part on if other people see it as harassment or light hearted jokes.

this is how the system currently works.

People just confuse banter & trash talk as harassment.

Some people don't seem to understand their criticism isn't criticism, they'll say stuff like "what are you, braindead" and think it is constructive.

i still not punished with even a mute. you must have said much more then that
