Banning Pick Intent Unsportsmanlike

I feel that, in a lot of circumstances, banning a champion that someone shows pick intention for is definitely unsportsmanlike and should be an offense you can report someone for. I understand if I'm last pick and want an OP or overplayed champion and my team can't trade them to me then yes, ban away and all is good. However, if I am first overall pick and want to play an OP champion (that I'm presumably good at) you should not ban them because, at that point, you are just trolling your team. It will cause me to get irritated that you felt the need to ban a champion I would have been 100% able to secure and a champion that may have been my best for the role. Another time that it is fairly troll is if you ban someone's main champ. I'm talking having Annie Bot on your team and banning Annie or anyone that has a champion's name or reference in their summoner name or clan tag. For apparent reasons you should not ban that champion. Recently I had mordekaiser banned away from me as a mordekaiser main in the mordkaiser club with MORDE as the clan tag... According to lolking mordekaiser has a 2% play rate so there is a very small chance the other team would pick him and if you don't want mordekaiser on your team because he's bad (which is why they banned him) then the other team taking him shouldn't be a problem. I personally have a 59% win rate on mordekaiser through almost 300 ranked games on him and climbed from silver 4 to diamond 4 playing 75% of my ranked games on him. So banning mordekaiser was a hindrance to the team whether he liked it or not since it forced me on a champion that I am sub-par on which, statistically, means we had a less of a chance of winning because you felt the need to troll and ban my champion because you don't want to play with mordekaiser.

TL;DR Think a little before you are going to ban someone's pick intention as to whether or not there is a good chance the other team can pick them beforehand (if the are OP) or if you are considering banning someone's main away. If you ban because you don't like their pick you are being unsportsmanlike and should be reported as such.

Do people really do this? The closest I've seen is someone accidently do an auto ban carelessly, and then apologize, and another case where the person thought they were already banning when they chose intent, so they chose it as their intent then banned it.

Although, any cases that do occur are surely awful. My condolences.

No, it is not unsportsmanlike. The bans are individual decisions, which means, everyone is free to ban as he pleases. Same goes for picks. You don't get to tell others what they should pick, and you don't get to tell others what they should ban.

However, if I am first overall pick and want to play an OP champion (that I'm presumably good at) you should not ban them because, at that point, you are just trolling your team.

Or he has just seen too many "I AM DIASMURF YASUO´/VAYNE/SHACO MAIN!" going 0/3 in 7 minutes and 1v5 even if they somehow get ahead, and doesn't want that on his team.

And btw. certain summoner names don't exactly increase peoples confidence in that regard. Just saying.

I'm talking having Annie Bot on your team and banning Annie or anyone that has a champion's name or reference in their summoner name or clan tag.

IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU HAVE IN YOUR NAME.

I just played 2 games in a row with a guy who managed to put 3 (THREE!) references to Yasuo into his summoner name. First game he was on my team, gave first blood, fed his a$$ off. We almost carried him regardless, but then he decides to go yolo 1v5 3 times in a row.

Luckily for me, I had him in my next game as well....on the other team, and more specifically, ON MY LANE :-) Needless to say, he did the exact same thing again, and I had my revenge, my lost LP back and 10LP bonus on top of it ^^

So sorry not sorry, but a lot of experienced players, are not overly confident in people with champion references in their summoner name / club tag, because usually, that screams DANGER: WANNABE/ONETRICKPONY".

I personally have a 59% win rate on mordekaiser through almost 300 ranked games on him

Good for you. But a lot of people don't, and noone is obligated to check your stats on op.gg People are going with statistics.

And btw. if it is both unlikely that the enemy team picks him, or that someone bans him randomly, then I have a Million Dollar question for you: Why do you show your pick intent on him?

[zombie-brand-mindblown]

So banning mordekaiser was a hindrance to the team whether he liked it or not

Wrong wording my friend: Wheter he KNEW it or not. Again, no one is obligated to check your stats.

And its only a hindrance to the team, if you are a one trick pony who can paly one champion well and are just sub par on everything else. In which case the problem is not so much with the team, or the guy who banned your champ, but with your limited champion pool.

If you ban because you don't like their pick you are being unsportsmanlike and should be reported as such.

Feel free to report away, its not my problem if you lower your hidden report value.

That shit happens to me all the time. I hate the community, but love the game.

All bans are unsportsmanlike. Riot should remove all banning from League - force people to fight the champs they hate.

Not even remotely when taken by itself. Some people do it to be jerks, but most do it because they just don't want that champion in the game and they would have banned it regardless of whether you were showing or not.

You are free to ban a champ you do not want to play against OR with. Some champs require a certain playstyle or type of teamwork to function. And people could just be really bad with that and forsee a loss. I think they should be allowed to ban whoever they want and that one tricks should have a back-up champ.

Sincerely, a Singed Main.
