Alternative to perma bans.
I've got a question, and I'm hoping that it might get explained a bit. I enjoy League, I really do. It's a fun game to play with my friends. My first ban was 2 weeks, with a chat restriction afterwards. That worked fine for me. I focused on playing the game because I couldn't really let my salt out. Fastforward a good couple months to yesterday. I said less things than my 2 week ban, by a lot. This ban I said 3 things, 2 of which were actually offensive. I understand completely. I should get reprimanded. But in my opinion, why not just permanently ban people's ability to use any form of chat? Either in the lobby, or in game to my team or the enemy team, even to my friends list. It escalated from a 2 week ban to a perma ban which I can kind of get, but why not just revoke ALL of my chat. And like I said before, everything League of Legends allows you to speak with. It can't be detrimental to how you play League if they'll give you a chat restriction anyway. Instead of banning me from enjoying and spending money on your game, why not just remove the only way people in League can be toxic? Besides inting and stuff, but if someone's only offense is being toxic and trash talking then shouldn't the punishment be a permanent chat ban since chat doesn't really influence games. Now if people feed on purpose and troll then yeah, that's affecting another person's gameplay and they should be banned from the game. But talking is not required, so if your only offense is toxicity, then you should be stripped permanently of the one thing that allows you to be toxic. The chat. A perma ban people can just make smurfs and be even more toxic because they might feel victimized. But taking away their chat makes it so I don't feel like I've wasted all the money or time I poured into this game, I still get to play with all my stuff, but I can't act out again.
I hope this is considered. It was a bit of a mess to write since it was all off the top of my head. But I believe this is a better alternative for toxic based bans, rather than gameplay based bans. It'd be nice if I could get a Riot employee to explain why permanent chat bans aren't a thing.
