Chat Restriction/Suspension Fix

First of all is pretty clear that League need a better Chat Restriction punishments that can be fair and provide a better experience for everyone instead of some specific type of players . First of all i want to point out why this system is bad:

  1. Suspension like 3-14 days/perm ban for Verbal Abuse doesnt makes sense, if he play the game good and dont int. is not right to take hes rights to play the game etc.
  2. Chat restrict for Verbal Abuse is fair punishment but can affect ur team ( thats what RIOT say why they perm. ban people for verbal abuse instead of perm. restrict chat)
  3. Trying to change/reform everyone is wrong in so many ways, coz if thats the way they talk on street/home etc, they cant be changed so easily, i see people get ban for saying fuck this ( when they blame theirself), "that was stupid baron call " when probably that really was a stupid call etc etc, and on ranked games everyone is tense and if something goes wrong is impossible to stay chill etc, cmon thats what happen on every competition, if u really calm, not salty at all etc either ur calm af either u dont really care, and beside a guy that is salty about a lose or a guy that dont really care i really chose the guy that care to win.
  4. Taking some people freedom to express themselves i think is very wrong , i feel like League chat experience is not far from kinder-garden talk experience.
  5. "Harm can still be done" by chat restricted people or people that just come back after a ban and "Harm will be done" to people that gets triggered/offended by bad/negative/salt/verbal abuse talk.
  6. Current system focus on protecting child's/frustrated people that get offended by every word that they think is negative or people thats not used to "big guys talk" and prob. girls, and make a system thats only good for a part of people that play League i dont think is fair at all even too i have nothing against them and they deserve a better experience in game too as everyone else.
  7. etc etc etc

FIX: Make a option in game that mute automatically potential negative people depends on their reports instead of banning them, with option to turn it off , if im a guy that dont get offended by anything and i dont mind or enjoy competitive talk, street talk ,salt,mature talk etc i simply just uncheck that option and i get 0 harm and if im a child or i get trigger by anything or i have a period of frustration or im simply not in mod for shit talk this game etc i let that option on and 0 harm is done to me instead of still bein able to see a guy with chat restrict on bein negative/toxic.

This should be better for everyone ,even more for people that dont want to hear the potential negative ppl coz in current system they can still listen everyone, even chat restrict people that is most likely to say something that harm them.

And yeah banning people that wish Cancer/ F ur mom etc etc like that is fair.

The point that makes or breaks your post is this:

This is not true. I agree with 99% of the punishments I see on these boards. I do not personally get offended by at least half of them. That being said, I do not play League to experience constant negativity from other players. It is not only the words or phrases someone uses, but the attitude they have that is inappropriate.

This is the same as 90+% of players in League - they don't care if someone says fuck shit damn - hell they don't even care if someone says "fuck you" once in a game. But if someone spams the entire game with harassment, abuse, or negativity - or if they use hate speech, tell someone to kill themselves, or another example of extreme negativity - it makes the game less fun. That's why players report - not because they're offended by everything, but because players who are negative/toxic make the game less fun.

Without that point, the rest of your argument falls apart - because players who are consistently negative are ruining games for other players, and continuing to let them is not okay - regardless of if that's "how they were raised". Someone being "raised" to do a certain thing does not make that thing suddenly acceptable, nor does it mean they are immune from punishment should they continue to do the same thing. If someone's raised by their parents to "no cop no stop" stop signs, that is not an excuse if they run stop signs and get pulled over - nor is it an excuse for them not reforming and ceasing that behavior after their first ticket, or second, or third (basically before they lose their license for it).

There is no "taking away" of the freedom of expression. You are more than allowed to express your distaste or discontent with a play, with a champion, with an ability, with a skillshot, etc. You cannot, however, spend the entire game, or a large portion thereof, creating a negative environment for others. You further cannot harass an individual for something they did. It's like on the soccer (football) field - you may get mad at an opposing player for making a good shot - you don't harass your goalie for not catching it, and you don't constantly berate the opposing player for making a good shot. Further, if they keep making good shots, you don't keep being pissy about it - you move on and stay positive, maybe after letting out a "shit fucking good shot there".

Lastly, you said this yourself:

I know you were quoting it, as in you may not agree with it, but it's true - players who are given more and more chances just ruin more and more games before they're permanently banned. Riot has statistics to show this, and even has showed that the vast majority (95%) of permanently banned players still ruined games if given one final chance, even after being "coached" on their behavior and told that it was their final final chance. There is simply no excuse to let players ruin more games if they do not wish to reform.

On to your idea:

Riot is not supportive of any feature that removes chat from an individual for an extended period of time. If someone is unwilling to utilize chat in an acceptable manner and does not have the self control to prevent themselves from using chat, they do not deserve to play a team game where cooperation is necessary for a reliable victory. Preventing non-toxic players from seeing toxic players' chat does nothing but prevent communication between teammates for no good reason other than the toxic player wants to be toxic - this rewards toxicity (by saying it's okay to be toxic), but punishes non-toxic players who just want to play a fun game (by saying "you are now hindered as you can't see your team's chat").

That's a mighty large claim for so little evidence.

The rest of it reads as, "I would like the behavior systems to reflect my perspectives and desires over those of everyone else."

They've already tried to do permachat, and that didn't work. As for Riot taking a player's right to play League of Legends, you're right. They can't. But they certainly can take away their accounts. Because before you even downloaded the game, you agreed to ALL terms of the Terms of Use and said it was fine. You are responsible for every action YOU take and Say. You can play League of Legends all you want. You're just not allowed to ruin everyone's game or try to be toxic to players. Just play the game and don't be a negative player. Not that complex.

you mean include context? try and sense sarcasm in text based message system? Riot doesnt care enough that's why they have a zero tolerance policy and an auto ban report system in place so they cant be bothered.

  3. People can EASILY be changed, we've had plenty of examples of change. Stories here of people reforming. If you can't, we don't want you here.

  4. That's not taking away your freedom, it's punishing you and making you think about what you said. You're free to play on a new account, but not the one you acted toxic on.

  5. Harm can be done by throwing a kys, they don't care when they say it.

  6. You went from wrong to sexist in a matter of 10 words. The children are usually the banned toxic players who demand refunds "or I'll sue"

No offence but how even a perma ban stop someone bein toxic and not make him even more toxic? is a f2p game, u can make how many accounts u want, now with runes reforged is even better for them to get into fair 5 v 5 games, this cicle of perma ban accounts and make a new one will last forever for alot of people that were perma banned, i know a guy that was perm banned 10 times, and how riot fix this? well they dont, they just move toxic people to lower lvls, i made a new account on euw few days ago and i was amazed by how much toxicity there, and half of them say they are banned when i ask em. thats why i give that idea, instead of this endless cicle is a option good for everyone, but seems like some people here think if RIOT give u some stats that show ur not a human, they believe xD. and 99% of bans are not fair 100%, i see alot of cases, my friend got perm ban for quote a toxic guy cancer word, and he was automatically flagged as toxic coz he used that word and banned isntantly after that game, nobody even review that case, then support will never unban people, they will find previous bans a excuse for the curent ban and they say they give him no chance to defend. even if he was the guy that was bein flammed. +i didnt mention that for people that spend money is not right to take their rights to use what they pay for saying fuck this in the chat or bein "passibe agresive for actually just reply some questions was adressed to you" believe me i watch alot of cases of perm bans that i was stunned by the reaons they got it and tbh im scared to even use chat myself after i got my first chat ban for saying fuck this, im done , my friend say he will give me 2 months max till ill be perm banned.....
